Guest Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 A food bank for fuckin pets????????????? Jesus wept. It's not their fault Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Sweep, you rotter, beaten to the punch... Anyhow, after hearing of these so-called poor people swanning around with mobile phones, I'd like to today suggest that owning a tie means you can't possibly be poor, unless you team it with a brimmed hat of which the top has come away and is sticking up - like the lid on an open can of beans. little whitt Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 If you're that hungry, could you not just eat your dog/cat? INSTEAD OF A FRAY BENTOS Quote
no balls Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 See, these cunts with dogs on strings shouting Tory scum probably need to remember who's feeding their pets. Being a stuck up middle class bint comes with such responsibilities to the peasants, ungrateful bastards. Quote
Sweep Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I put a bag of dry pasta & a few tins in the one at Clitheroe last week as well as some dog food in the the pet one. I reckon you could use that for a fray bentos pie if you snaffle them out of the box. I take it that you kept the waffles and fish fingers for yourself Quote
no balls Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I take it that you kept the waffles and fish fingers for yourself Damn right, and the arctic roll Quote
Whites man Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The maximum benefit cap for families is £26k per year, where is the money going if it's not on food? When I was at university my spending priorities were fags, ale and food in that order, perhaps the food bank lot are the same. Quote
Sweep Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I wonder.... Let's say that the cost of your rent is taken care of, and you don't need to worry about any other bills either - how much do you reckon it would/could cost to feed a family of 4? - and I'm not talking about just making a massive vegetable stew at the start of the week and eating that all week. I'm not sure what poor is these days, I find I don't have enough money for some of the things I want, but I'm not sure I fall into the poor bracket just yet.....although maybe I do, I really don't know Quote

Why not? That's what British working class families have done for much of the last century. It is trivially easy to feed a family of four extremely well for a very little money, especially if you have time on your hands. And if you don't know how to do it, libraries are free. There is practically an entire genre of television dedicated to making limited funds go further on food. This is one area where there is absolutely no excuse. Though someone will supply one in a minute I expect. Quote

Sweep Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 We've just been talking about this sort of stuff in the office, and the big thing to come out of it was that rent/mortgage is most peoples largest outgoing (which is fairly obvious I suppose) - it was quite interesting to see the different percentage of peoples take home wages that this takes up. One lad in the office pays out nearly 50% of his wage on his rent, and once he's paid all his bills and stuff, and he's only left with around £200 per month for food and "fun" - to be fair, he's not complaining, but he's not in a position to save anything. He reckons he can do a full months food shop for under £100, so that leaves hi £100 so he can go out twice a month to add...........as well as his rent, he pays out for a car loan on a fairly nice car and also has an iPhone 6, so he could trim down on those if required, but I guess some might say he falls into the "poor" bracket as things stand. Moderators Carlos Posted October 15, 2015 Moderators Posted October 15, 2015 Just done my finances, with everything paid this month, I've got £300 plus the cash in my wallet to last me 2 weeks. I was feeling poor! Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Just done my finances, with everything paid this month, I've got £300 plus the cash in my wallet to last me 2 weeks. I was feeling poor! 200g onion (1-2 medium) 110 broth mix (can use any lentils, beans chickpeas etc. dry or canned) 3 garlic cloves 200g carrot (about 2 med/large) 420g courgette 170g peppers (about one large) 160g mushrooms 3 med celery sticks 2 tsps of oil* * You might want/need to use more i was just trying to keep it to a minimum Directions Makes lots - anthing between 4 and 8 servings depending on appetite or what you want to eat it with. * If using dried beans or a barley broth mix soak overnight in plenty of cold water - you can just use canned for ease (make sure canned in water for healthy factor!) then rinse with more cold water before use * put your pre-soaked beans/broth mix onto boil while you cook (will take around 30 mins til done) 1) place oil in a BIG pan, heat on medium then add onions and garlic. 2) When soft (and smelling good yum) throw in everything else and stir around a bit (see what i mean about precision?) 3) allow to cook/soften for 10-15 minutes until all seems pretty cooked (carrots can still have some bite) Then add the tinned tomatoes 4) allow to bubble away for another 10-15 then add your drained beans/broth mix/lentils (whatever your choosing) 5) stir, then this can simply bubble away on a low heat until needed, be saved or eaten right away! Serve with brown rice for the ultimate in goody-goody eating!! That's not my recipe btw, it's little Jezza's - to accompany I'd suggest a teacup of Brasso filtered through a slice of bread or a decent red, spend around £14-15 on the bottle and it should suffice. Moderators Carlos Posted October 15, 2015 Moderators Posted October 15, 2015 Celery. Dirty cunt. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Celery, onion and carrots - the holy trinity, them. If they're done right your woudln't even know celery is in it. That recipe of little Jezza's was picked purposefully for it's shitness. Eat that for a week and you wouldn't question what relative poverty was. no balls Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 You can always taste the celery. Always. correct. And cucumber. I've got an M&S taste of Greece falafel meal thing today for my lunch and the cunts have cut the stuff up so small I'm really having to ball around to find it. Quote
