January 17, 20233 yr It’s the Same folk that moan about churches and pubs closing who are moaning about M and S closing. Those that never use them Edited January 17, 20233 yr by royal white
January 17, 20233 yr Bolton’s death warrant was signed the day they let Cliff fat fucking dribbly chinned spazzycunt Morris take charge. He strangled the town centre and all that’s left is a twitching corpse. Maybe inn20 years it can be restored to something to be proud of again, but there’s more chance of Brexit creating benefits than it happening any sooner
January 17, 20233 yr I still don’t get how people say town died when the Club moved to Middlebrook. 🤷🏻♂️ who went to do their shopping before going to the game?

The last two M&S that have opened near here, have been on out of town retail parks, where it seems most people do their shopping these days Our m&s is in a town centre and is rammed. Food court and the clothes section - oh and the cafe. Go to Greenwich retail park but that's only for ikea. Love the fact the centre is well used and we've got funding for the Mayor's town centre evening plans to create more nighttime economy.

How many penniless locals and non locals do you have just gormlessly wandering around your town centre?

There are two slot machine shops on Newport St and another one near McDonalds And reading the Bolton News report M and S are advising Bolton people they can use the stores in Horwich, Bury amd Walkden. Walkden! how on earth can that support a Foodhall and Bolton can't

Having one in the west side of town and one to the east in Bury presumably gives them enough coverage.

January 17, 20233 yr Sad reading all of this. The councillors of Bolton for the last couple of decades should all hang their heads in shame. An embarrassment. Somewhere along the way a white knight must emerge to get us back on the rails? Hate to say it's a decaying. decrepid dump but that is the truth. Get the big developers in and fuck all the pound shops off for a start. Not likely to be high on the priority list for many current councillors but needs to happen.

Keep the town hall, Market Place and Le Mans Crescent and flatten the rest. It’s a fkin disgrace.

Was told some years ago that Bolton would not strike a deal with developers along the lines of what revitalised Bury. No way of knowing if that is true or not but something radical needs to be done.

Need to flatten all remnants of the 60’s 70’s and 80’s buildings Hate to say it but modern residential buildings probably need to go up. Decrease the footprint of the town centre, make it concentrated but focussed on quality. Man Hester is spreading outwards at a massive rate, eventually maybe possibly the suburbs may become popular again.

January 17, 20233 yr The Arndale Centre and the whole block it stands on are just about to be flattened. M&S is the next block so I wonder if the council will expand the plans they already have in place to include that block too and perhaps the one across the street where Spencer’s once was. This could actually signal the start of massive improvements to Bolton town centre.
