recently did Quarterback on Netflix that's been mentioned on here

very good, insightful

made me realise just what a tough, demanding position it is both physically and mentally, possibly one of the hardest positions in sport, certainly team sports

the other thing that impressed me was Partick Mahommes new house

he came across a decent, sound guy

as did Cousins, but what a massive gimp / stiff he is, in a nice, endearing way

speaking of quarterbacks, last night watch Johnny Football, about a lad called Johnny Manziel who had the potenital to be one of the best QBs ever, but decided to piss it all up the wall instead

very good

Cheers for this mate. I used to look forward to his games when he led Texas A&M. Could have been anything this lad - freakish ability at his top.

Done the Waco and Boston Marathon documentaries on netflix

Knew the headlines and top level details

Wasn't aware of the man hunt post bombing and interesting to see the dynamics (fuck ups) made by the authorities at Waco

Both only 3 episodes, with a watch

Waco Untold: The British Stories

Watched the first one of two. Bit more background into the story. Blimey!! 1/3rd of his followers were British. Did a great grooming tour round the UK

Close this thread down.

Live TV audiences only :D

Still can't get my head round how big the crowds are for college football

Was having a look and A&M expanded around the time Manziel was playing from 82k to 102k!!

Teams like the bears and redskins average under 60k

It’s more localised.

probably nearer to what we are used to following football here, than the NFL is.

You’ll get local fans of college football who support an NFL team on the other side of the country. Pretty sure @bolty58 mentioned this a while back,

Aye, college football teamx are like your town/city team. Your NFL teams are more like state teams, therefore more like national teams.

Anyway, it's a shit sport.

But they know how to make tv shows about it.

Aye lad. Way too complicated for the likes of you as demonstrated by this very post.

The team I have been lucky enough to watch on a good few occasions is the Wisconsin Badgers. The waiting list for season tickets at Camp Randall was beyond 10 years the last time I saw them play live. The capacity is up around 80K and it's a sellout every time.

Mind you, the 10 years is chicken shit compared to Packer season tickets. They only really change hands when they are left to folk in wills.

How very un-PC of you to use an offensive label for a NFL franchise. Tsk

Which bit have I got wrong?  Happy to be corrected.  My understanding was college teams are much more localised and they also can't just be picked up and moved like the LA Raiders were (and MK Dons).

Oh, and I fully understand the rules/laws of the game.  You get four plays to advance 10 yards ... it's not complicated.

Watched Johnny Football last night.
I knew I'd be irritated by it as Manziel is a wanker.

An absolute waste of talent.

It's a constantly recurring theme mate. George Best, Stan Bowles, Johnny Football - the list must be miles long. Money, fame, adulation goes to some folks heads and they simply lose the plot. Never affected me mind ;)

"It's a shit sport". There's your answer.

The game is far more complicated than you might imagine. Sam Spodofora's offensive playbook at the Bolton Braves was a mindfuck. Away games down south or in the north east 'sentenced' you to hours of pre game study on the offence's team coach. Meanwhile, on the defensive teams coach, we had porn movies on and lads were flashing there arses and more at passing motorists. Our playbook had around 10 plays so easy to memorise. They had around 150 different plays.

The defence waited in anticipation for the captain's instruction "75 black!". Full blitz, all out attack and hit anything that moves. Most of the time absolute mayhem - I think we got caught out once by Glasgow Diamonds whose shrewd QB read our intent who sent his two WR's steaming down the pitch both running towards the goal posts. Early throw, no safeties, no fuck all. A stroll into the end zone.

Other than this we inflicted some proper damage. Washington Presidents left Grundy Hill with a cracked sternum,  a broken arm and a couple of concussions. There were many others. Only remember one injury to a Brave and that was a hammy.

You might as well have written that in Swahili 😃

Beaten by someone telling two blokes to run fast at the posts. Hardly chess levels of strategic thinking.

Bali 2002. Fuck me, that was a grim watch. Glad I’d waited until my daughter had left the island before I watched it.

Your Mum, My Dad on ITV. Like BB/LI but with 50-year-olds. Both Sharon and Natalie are worth a length… but not a relationship!

Finished erin carter, proper edge of the seat stuff

Now, dear child

Just watched Johnny Football. Really enjoyed it. Frustrating to see him waste his talent. But he had a great time other than that!!! Did wonder if he’d try and make a return - not sure at what level when you get to 29/30. Obviously no longer able to play college… what other options are there other than NFL?

I hope you're kidding.

Who is Erin Carter is one of the worst things I've ever watched.

Correct. Now get back to your knitting.

The CFL. A few strays and 'wayward' talents end up there.

Sam Bankman-Fried documentary on BBC1 now for all you Crazy Crypto Cats.
