We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Is it due to money or are they waiting for other movement before they can be signed?

money huge factor atm

It's simply because the clubs won't release the players we want until the players they wan't are available. Schumacher knows this and isn't frustrated with 'higher ups'. Equally, money is a consideration but the club only scout players they believe to be within budget. We'll have 3 players in by deadline next week (I reckon one out too); people need to be patient. Priority right now is keeping the fit players we have fresh and available, and ideally 4-6 points from the next 2 games. Some breathing space then next week to tidy the squad.

Any ideas of names ?

I'm getting the sense that Schumacher is becoming increasingly frustrated by the higher ups inability to get a deal over the line.

Had a number identified for most of this window that are for some reason dragging on and on and as that happens the likelihood of them actually coming to fruition diminishes, all while we're getting through games that they can be bedding in or making an impact on.

Where do you get these senses from may one ask?

That's the Bolton way, always has been.

If there is a chance to do anything the hard way we'll find it don't worry, anyway we can always go with what we've got 🤷.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Sharon offered SS the job, I would be surprised if he was told that he had more funds available than has actually played out, 12 months down the line?

I'd hazard a guess he had his own stipulations in that he had full backing to get rid of Evatts bottle jobs and instill his own squad of players over the course of a few windows with a completely new direction for the team.

He will be fully aware of the budget then and now.

Honestly, no. Just re read and it sounds a bit ITK, which it wasn't meant to. The loose lips of the Evatt days are much less loose these days :-).

If i was to guess though, Nombe makes complete sense for us. Proven at the level, hit the ground running, likely available at the right price and up front with Dalby would be a handful for any League One defence. Beyond that, haven't a clue. If i was betting, I'd also wager McAtee will go (on loan).

Agree with Nombe good signing , I reckon McAtee will be off he’s been a disappointment for me.

As frustrating as that must be for Schumacher, he's paying the price for some of last season's mistakes by Evatt & co.. We're obviously taking a more pragmatic approach to fees and transfers, so as not to end up with £3m worth of attacking midfielders on top wages that can't get into the team..

Hard to argue with it really, as annoying as it must be

You are behind the curve here. Somebody from Wanderersways snuck into the interview when Sharon told him he had to play attractive football.

Possibly the BN, and in particular the headline today.

Speaks really well in that piece. I like him.

Nothing to suggest he's frustrated with the board like but clearly there's more urgency to recruit after yesterday's news.

I think sometimes people forget he's only had the one, and he more or less had to spend whatever money he raised during it too

Hopefully we don't get complacent  in sorting sufficient back up/competition for Conway before he gets injured as with most players it's likely to happen at some point and he's been important for us.
