I am a fan of Parky based on his results at Bradford and the fact we are somehow 4th in league with a game in hand to go second. However clearly many starting to turn against him.

 

I could not go last night due to work but tactics seemed wrong based on comments on here and when under pressure some strange subs. My biggest criticism of him would be in the transfer window we failed to strengthen central midfield. Think Pratleys injury was confirmed by then and with Mavies out for the season we looked paper thin. Spearing suspension and injury, and Thorpes injury has just exposed it further. The big gamble was LeFondre but the system we are playing means he is adding very little.

 

However the case for Parky I think is much stronger. Based on last season I think people were genuinely worried about what might happen this year, but we are in a play off position and still have the tightest defence in the league. Based on the financial constraints we have with a limited squad size and then injuries (both right backs, Mavies, Pratley, Thorpe, Spearing and Madine all missing by start of second half) we are down to bare bones so he is forced to deadwood like Trotter who he inherited.

 

Our fall from the highest levels of football means we are not only now shopping in Aldi rather than Harrods we are sat in the 'whoops' aisle picking up what no one else needs/wants. Quality of players has dropped and doubt Parky be leading any club on European jaunts but I do think he is exactly the right man for us and is capable of dragging results out of teams in the division. Rather getting on his back I think we need to be backing him, the club is in real mess but I think Parky is part of clearing that mess up rather than making it worse.

Same here, however Amos isn't welcome back.

Apart from the past couple of games - our new keepers have been one of the highlights of the season. I can't understand why people are saying they are both suddenly shit?

I put it down to bellendery.

I put it down to being paid a lot of money to be able to do a job. The last few games they have both had a game where they out shit their kicked clearances, and their ability to make the right judgement, etc. Have they been great beyond those two games or have the flanks of the defence given them better protection?

I have all but lost faith in PP. I am not saying change him i have just lost faith of any return to the Championship in the near future. Which is ironic with amount of shit people gave to Sheffield who have been stuck here for 6 years. 

 

We have very little plan A and zero plan B. We are missing Madine and that is a sign of the times as he is pretty woeful. Yes he wins headers but more often than not they go to nobody. A target man should win the header / bring the ball down and then play it to a man in the same shirt. He does the hard bit and then too often loses the ball. 

 

When we play the ball on the floor we don't look that bad but this constant "Hoooooooooooooooooffffff" mentality is tiresome. we don't have a Kevin Davies up front to win these balls. Early on last night we played football and it was good to watch and we were ok at it. I don't recall either of our keepers playing a ball less than 40 yards up the pitch and about 500ft in the air. 

 

This was always going to be a tough year and we have avoided the drop to the next division which is a positive but we are in for a shock next year when we lose more of our better talent. 

 

Spending a Tuesday night post work driving for an hour +, sitting in the cold and watching shite followed by an hours drive home is becoming less and less appealing. I hope PP can sort this out and return to some kind of football and get some fight in the team. Sadly i think last night was a sign of things to come and we are going be down here for a while......

 

a few wins and it is all good again. 

 

I stand by that we have been playing some awful football until recently. nice to finally see players getting the ball down and playing football. it really has been a pleasure to watch stuff other than the ball being hoofed in the air.

 

long may this new style of play continue. 

 

It looks like a couple of goals and Mr Madines confidence shoots right up which is nice.

You needed to assess the reasons we were playing relatively poorly before you posted your comments on here, thankfully many fans (the usual suspects ???????? ) balanced your knee jerk reactions and looks like they were proved right.

maybe but i am not going to pretending the last few months were not painful to watch. 

 

we have shown massive improvements but previously to that game we were woeful.

For periods last night was poor to watch, still too much hoof.

However, for me the biggest difference is that the team is liking to score goals and win games, rather than seemingly basing everything on keeping clean sheets.

Once the latter stopped we needed a new approach. Morals has helped obviously but it seems parky has taken the gloves off, yes we're still conceding the odd goal or two but we're winning games readily which is what scunny (until recently) and su have been doing.

Whatever the management team have done they should be applauded, a big win when next at home would convince the home crowd and give the push over the line.

Thats pretty much it. we are playing attacking football not just play for a draw and maybe sneak a goal 

RW - this thread tells a different story of our L1 season under Parky. He was heavily criticised until that amazing run in March/April.

Depends on how much he’s backed, he’s clearly a very capable manager… and a good egg.

I’ve no issues with Evatt being our manager, he’s made mistakes but he’s learning on the job, BWFC is a big job for a relatively new manager, but the trajectory has been upward from day one, let’s hope it continues.

Not a chance Parky would have achieved what Evatt has with the same resources.

He got us promoted with a squad littered with players with experience from the premier league and the championship. And made hard work of it.

Sharon wouldn't have got rid if he was so great.

There is no question he was a decent bloke who dealt with our dire situation with patience and humility. But some games we had barely 20 percent possession. It really was poor to watch, most of the time!

I think it has to be borne in mind the club was practically disintegrating at the time
