I am a fan of Parky based on his results at Bradford and the fact we are somehow 4th in league with a game in hand to go second. However clearly many starting to turn against him.

 

I could not go last night due to work but tactics seemed wrong based on comments on here and when under pressure some strange subs. My biggest criticism of him would be in the transfer window we failed to strengthen central midfield. Think Pratleys injury was confirmed by then and with Mavies out for the season we looked paper thin. Spearing suspension and injury, and Thorpes injury has just exposed it further. The big gamble was LeFondre but the system we are playing means he is adding very little.

 

However the case for Parky I think is much stronger. Based on last season I think people were genuinely worried about what might happen this year, but we are in a play off position and still have the tightest defence in the league. Based on the financial constraints we have with a limited squad size and then injuries (both right backs, Mavies, Pratley, Thorpe, Spearing and Madine all missing by start of second half) we are down to bare bones so he is forced to deadwood like Trotter who he inherited.

 

Our fall from the highest levels of football means we are not only now shopping in Aldi rather than Harrods we are sat in the 'whoops' aisle picking up what no one else needs/wants. Quality of players has dropped and doubt Parky be leading any club on European jaunts but I do think he is exactly the right man for us and is capable of dragging results out of teams in the division. Rather getting on his back I think we need to be backing him, the club is in real mess but I think Parky is part of clearing that mess up rather than making it worse.

No, and they don't care (in the main) it's just a job for most of them, they don't really have an emotional attachment to the team or fans

so what in the case of players who can't cut it under certain managers then move on and do well like say Kevin Davies,

I'd be a lot more concerned if he didn't look pissed off with the way we've been playing. Like he admits - whilst performances have been been poor we've still been grinding out points and have only lost 1 in 7 away at Sheff U. That's with a side that is all over the place due to injuries and suspensions. We're having a tough time of it of that there's no doubt - but I'm far from ready to chuck the towel in on PP. He's got some work to do for sure - so let's see if he can do it.

 

Win our GiH and we're 2nd.  Granted, I'm not watching it regularly but I'd say he's doing OK.  Must be hard losing some of your best players and trying to fit new ones in alongside injuries/suspensions, added to a few tough fixtures.   Would anyone boot him, seriously?

The happy clappy Coyle said something along those lines at a charity do when my wife questioned him on the absence of Muamba in the starting eleven.

 

I disagreed at the time and disagree now. Its a team game. A well organised, well drilled and motivated side can achieve much more than it constituent parts. I have witnessed this many times in my 47 years watching the game.

I know parky didn't rate a number of youngsters as some left. But we've had one on the bench from time to time (name slipped my memory). When they see trotter et al not trying it must be demoralising.

Pp isn't getting the right tune out of the current first team, and maybe one or two should have been bloddied to see if they can do it in league one; they're going to have to next season. Maybe they're not quite good enough, but some effort would be appreciated. Until they're tried we'll never know.

What we do know is that trotter , moxey etc wont get us up

Some of then think they are but playing well within themselves. Kevin Davies was far from a very talented footballer but made the most of his attributes through sheer hard work.

You know what I meant. His technical ability wasn't as you say anelka-esque and he was never going to get 20-25 goals a season. However his presence and commitment was fundamental to how we played: a team achieving more than the sum of its parts.

Remember him having his finger put back in- summed him up. Gave it and took it; perhaps that's a talent, though for me a quality of the man.

 

Back to the point in hand- there's a drop in performance and not everyone seems committed: that's where parky now has to earn his corn.

Definitely the right appointment and definitely will still back him now. Last season we were just a disorganised rabble. We didn't just go down we were an absolute mile away from staying up.

 

To get us where we are is almost a miracle. Stability is the name of the game for the time being.

If I had a blank piece of paper to start again with our squad and seeing most of the other teams at this level  I would keep Wheater, Beevers, Spearing and possibly Andy Taylor. we've seen what they are capable of, there's just a degree of inconsistency,

 

win the first 4

don't win the next 7

 

then win 11 of the next 13 with 8 clean sheets

and since the turn of the year we're all over the place as we lose key players and new ones try to come in, then injuries & suspensions kick in as well as our main man up front being a right bellend and getting himself dropped

 

yet somehow it's still in our own hands, but recent performances and current injury list doesn't point towards a return to form in the near future which we need if we are to get 2nd and keep it

 

I think it's more about the players bottling it than PP getting it wrong as I can't say he's strayed too much from what he's been doing all season other than playing 2 up top and/or wingbacks for a few games when we bought ALF, so he's tried a plan B, it's just not as good as plan A, which is presumably why it's B

 

we've clearly lost quality up top with Clough and Ameobi leaving, whilst the defence has gone to shit and there's only Wheater looks capable at the minute with Howard the biggest issue last night on the pitch, he was all over the place

 

don't think PP had much choice with who the 2 in the middle were last night come the end with Spearing going off injured and Wabara getting raped, changes had to be made

After relegation and uncertainty of the club etc players in and out mid table would of done me.

 

However once that settled and players came in the squad he had should be capable of promotion from this league, yes hes been dealt a shitty hand with injuries that's just unfortunate.

Same here, for me it was actually all about surviving until the end of the season, and hopefully not going into administration.............but, after the way the season has gone, it will now be disappointing if we don't find ourselves getting promoted
