Parky - As Good As We Can Expect Or Not ?

I am a fan of Parky based on his results at Bradford and the fact we are somehow 4th in league with a game in hand to go second. However clearly many starting to turn against him.

I could not go last night due to work but tactics seemed wrong based on comments on here and when under pressure some strange subs. My biggest criticism of him would be in the transfer window we failed to strengthen central midfield. Think Pratleys injury was confirmed by then and with Mavies out for the season we looked paper thin. Spearing suspension and injury, and Thorpes injury has just exposed it further. The big gamble was LeFondre but the system we are playing means he is adding very little.

However the case for Parky I think is much stronger. Based on last season I think people were genuinely worried about what might happen this year, but we are in a play off position and still have the tightest defence in the league. Based on the financial constraints we have with a limited squad size and then injuries (both right backs, Mavies, Pratley, Thorpe, Spearing and Madine all missing by start of second half) we are down to bare bones so he is forced to deadwood like Trotter who he inherited.

Our fall from the highest levels of football means we are not only now shopping in Aldi rather than Harrods we are sat in the 'whoops' aisle picking up what no one else needs/wants. Quality of players has dropped and doubt Parky be leading any club on European jaunts but I do think he is exactly the right man for us and is capable of dragging results out of teams in the division. Rather getting on his back I think we need to be backing him, the club is in real mess but I think Parky is part of clearing that mess up rather than making it worse.

Daresay some people will disagree.

He's the right man.

His subs last night were enforced. Spearing injured, Wabara blowing out of his arse (could of moved Vela to RB) and Henry had just taken a knock (not sure how bad that was)

I think Madine is a cunt of a bloke and a shit player but we miss him.

Bristol Rovers played well last night. People need to accept we're playing against other professionals.

We're 4th and can go 2nd. Support the team whilst you're there ffs. There was some boos last night when we were 1 up and they weren't aimed at that cunt in the black.

I have all but lost faith in PP. I am not saying change him i have just lost faith of any return to the Championship in the near future. Which is ironic with amount of shit people gave to Sheffield who have been stuck here for 6 years.

We have very little plan A and zero plan B. We are missing Madine and that is a sign of the times as he is pretty woeful. Yes he wins headers but more often than not they go to nobody. A target man should win the header / bring the ball down and then play it to a man in the same shirt. He does the hard bit and then too often loses the ball.

When we play the ball on the floor we don't look that bad but this constant "Hoooooooooooooooooffffff" mentality is tiresome. we don't have a Kevin Davies up front to win these balls. Early on last night we played football and it was good to watch and we were ok at it. I don't recall either of our keepers playing a ball less than 40 yards up the pitch and about 500ft in the air.

This was always going to be a tough year and we have avoided the drop to the next division which is a positive but we are in for a shock next year when we lose more of our better talent.

Spending a Tuesday night post work driving for an hour +, sitting in the cold and watching shite followed by an hours drive home is becoming less and less appealing. I hope PP can sort this out and return to some kind of football and get some fight in the team. Sadly i think last night was a sign of things to come and we are going be down here for a while......

sadly agree with this

What a fucking hard he's job he's got.

25 years ago Rioch went out and spent 250K on David Lee and we still only nicked 2nd place in the final week.

We're as bad as all these other twats who think their club is better than the level they are actually at.

Only after he'd made the money from  drawing with and beating Liverpool. Parky had a similar chance of a big pay day from  (losing)against Man City to boost the coffers but couldn't get the job done against the Crystal Palace reserves

David Lee had signed before the Liverpool tie. Fake news.

careless whisper with him

When did we pay the fee?, we first signed him on loan in the November

Theres no such thing as a good manager, I keep telling you all.

Was he on loan at first and made permanent after the Liverpool game?

It's becoming unwatchable unable to do the most basic things the style is awful

I'd be a lot more concerned if he didn't look pissed off with the way we've been playing. Like he admits - whilst performances have been been poor we've still been grinding out points and have only lost 1 in 7 away at Sheff U. That's with a side that is all over the place due to injuries and suspensions. We're having a tough time of it of that there's no doubt - but I'm far from ready to chuck the towel in on PP. He's got some work to do for sure - so let's see if he can do it.

I don't mind Parky and we are far higher up the league than I thought we would be when the season started. I was happy just to stop losing every week and hope for a chance of hitting the play offs.

He's had a stinker of a job to do but I certainly think he can steady the ship for at least a couple of more years. not sure he can take the club forward but lets at least get the steady ship first.

He's our modern day Phil Neal but we'll also need a Bruce to follow him

Tactically bereft.

Man management seems OK, but cracks are appearing now we're playing shite.

I know many don't agree, but if at the beginning of the season, you'd offered all the managers in our league our squad, I reckon not many would have said no thanks.

Pp had fuck all to spend and had to wheel and deal, but ultimately, the squad now is his.

Most importantly we're playing poor football and not getting results- if the rumours by lies have any credibility and investors are looking (Singapore) then he'll have to improve.

You have no idea if we'd have signed him permanently without the Liverpool game or not.

He was on loan and the liverpool ticket money helped pay for a permanent move

Other than that jturner is talking shite

Our team on papaer is one of the best in this league, and we have such a nice pitch/stadium to play football on.

Yet we play the most disgusting type of football. We have no plan b other than to keep on hoofing it to our striker.

Yes we are 4th, but I am not a fan of Parkinson at all.

sadly agree with this

Junior Marple had training at Lostock first, so had left home at 4-15, got home at 11.

As I was stuffing paper in wet football boots at 11 and unpacking all juniors kit, coat etc - thought the exact same thing.

Do these players realise what the fans go through to watch them ?????

Do these players realise what the fans go through to watch them ?????

Not sure they are really bothered

Be interesting to see how well we'd be doing with Pratley and Mark Davies both fit.

Taking into account the drop in level, have any our existing players genuinely improved on his watch? Zela is probably the only obvious candidate

He was on loan and the liverpool ticket money helped pay for a permanent move

Signed permanently in the December before the tie.

Aye

After the draw was made

Had a VHS at the time and taped anything and everything bwfc related

In the build up there was a piece where they interviewed him and were saying the draw has helped to make his move permanent due to it being a sell out and a big pay day for us

We may have been able to buy him anyway but the timing of it all was very helpful

Which is why I said it helped

At the time, late Oct 92, anti-Warby sentiment was at its height. When we were 2-0 down at Preston it was evil. The time had come for them to shit or get off the pot.

Mad to think we moved in to the reebok 5 years later.

How the fuck did that happen...
