I just don't get the massive wankathon over them. Stick Billy Sharp in any of the top 6 teams and they'd piss the league.

 

The whole attendance thing is just ridiculous. We have the richest and most supported club in Europe 10 miles away. Hardly a surprise we struggle to hit 16k. I think we do pretty well all things considered. Who actually gives a fuck?

 

I can kind of understand the big club boasting from teams that were once in the elite in recent memory. Leeds for instance I get. They were champions league semi finalists in my lifetime.

 

But in my 33 years on this planet I cannot remember one single instance of Sheffield United being successful. They've always pissed about in division 1 , going up and coming down etc. Brian Deane scoring the first Prem goal and all that bollocks with Chesterfield is the only thing of not I can remember. No Europe, no pots, no fuck all.

To be fair, in the last 15 years, we have spent 11 years in the prem, they have just 1 season.

2 European campaigns, 1 league cup final and Fa Cup semi final.

 

Still haven't won a trophy then, but we have definitely achieved more

I really like Sheffield as a city. It's a great place. I lived there for 3 years and would happily live there again.

Then again, could be the Yorkshire inferiority complex? Not hard to understand when you look at the enormous imbalance in sporting success with Lancashire since The Football League was established. When we founded the league with 5 other Lancashire clubs and six midland clubs, the Yorkies were still playing  incestopoly and eating gruel.

 

Their real issue is being the noisy neighbours to a far bigger club. If Wednesday don't get up through the playoffs (and I hope they do), all of the Blunts bile will be saved up for them next season and we will be almost insignificant to them as they already are to us.
