I will literally piss my sides when the great unwashed scouse cunts drive Sam out, the most delusional set of fuckwit fans ever.

  • aye   look at where he took us from and where he got us too and the situation we found ourselves in   you can bang on about the likes of Cid, McCann and Samuel, but look at the others he did great

Is it ok to now give Phil Gartside some credit for those signings? Without him Eddie D wouldn't of happened or any of the European ventures. Golden memories. Thanks P.G. RIP

He did win a few trophies.....although they were up in Scotchland, so I'm not sure if they really count

Just the one trophy but it definitely counts.

Scotland doesn't count.

're Bruce everyone knew he was going and he went with pretty much everyone's blessing.

The Stubbs thing won't seem that big a deal now but I was buzzing after beating them twats and watching MOTD after that statement pretty much ruined it

Stop messing up my sexy sam thread with ya small time bollocks.....

Scotland doesn't count.

I can remember getting home after the Reading game on cloud 9 & my mum, who had no interest in footy, completely bursting my balloon by saying "the managers going isn't he?" - she'd seen the live interview after the match that no one at the game had any idea of

're Bruce everyone knew he was going and he went with pretty much everyone's blessing.

He went with everyone's blessing because he said he was doing it for his family.

Wasn't his wife's dad ill our something?

Didn't take him long to forget all that and start at arsenal did it? Now I'm not familiar with the process of being the new manager at a top football club but I wonder if arsenal was already on the cards when he left us.

I thought he went went straight to Arsenal from us, there was no leaving us and waiting for a job. He didn't do a Sam 'ohh I'm tired' and rock up at a club 3 days later.

If I remember right, his wife's dad was dying and lived around the corner from Arsenal's training ground

Thats how I remember it

Stubbs was/is a cunt as was Sam in the way they both handled their departures.

Rioch went with our blessing.

Rioch left us on 8th June 95 and started with them on 15th June 95.

I'm sure I haven't made up his need to be nearer his family due to family illness.

I'm not for a minute dismissing him as a great BWFC manager but I'm fairly sure he didn't leave and announce he was to be the Arsenal manager.

He cited the ill health of his wife's father

His contract was up

Rioch left us on 8th June 95 and started with them on 15th June 95.

He did have a family illness and left for arsenal.

So...

I'm remembering correctly or I'm sullying the name of Bruce the Almighty? Did he say the Gooners job would allow him to be closer to his family or did he say he wanted to be nearer his family then took the gooners job?

He explained he had family issues but it was known he was big favourite for the arsenal job. They went hand in hand. He was out of contract from memory

As I posted above, he was out of contract

So completely different to some lard arse needing a 2 week rest

I obviously remembered some bits but not others.

Re Allardyce the relationship between him and Phil Gartside had broken down irreparably so his leaving was effectively by mutual consent.

And for once I agree with Micky, Rioch could have taken a shit in Nat Lofthouse's desk drawer when he left and folk would be queuing up to defend him.

Has this been posted before? Allardyce accusing Gartside of saying they didn't want Bolton to qualify for the Champions league

Well you cannot watch that interview as a Bolton fan without your heart sinking - what if?

Exactly. What night have been. We look back fondly at our European jaunts but what could have been?

We will never know but as far as I am concerned there was only one bloke in this who was thinking right and that was the bloke being interviewed right there.

A golden opportunity missed. Would be fascinating to know which 3 players he had in mind.

Edited to say that on the plus side, that decision probably saved me a fucking fortune in flight costs.

seem to recall from the time 2 names were Alan Smith and Juan Pablo Sorin

it's a fair enough explanation for me, and the way he left the club was as much down to him as it was the PG and how they handled it, so still don't see personally why Rioch's departure is used as beacon a way to leave a club and his isn't, and stop going on about his ill relatives as it really wasn't a reason as to why he left, does anyone think he would have stayed if all his family were in good health? would he fuck, not when he could go somewhere and sign the likes of Bergkamp - end of the day, they had the same ambition

and 12 months on we spent something like £11M in Jan, so the money was there, but guess by then the board had become complacent with the PL security he brought us and were desperate, obviously, not to  get relegated

We did sell Anelka for £15M that January though.

I think that Eddie knew Sam would go eventually. And didn't want to continually open the chequebook to keep him.

Things changed when relegation and the loss of money that went with that became real possibilities. You can say Eddie and Gartside were lacking in vision, but in some ways wanting to show spending restraint whilst in the top 8 was probably the right thing, its just that they then wasted millions trying to stay in the premiership with bad managers.

yeah forgot about Anelka, they hardly continually opened the chequebook though - Anelka, Diouf, maybe Campo?

you reap what you sow

cue Casino's graph

which will probably lead to Gonzo's Muamba stats at some point as the blame game starts as to why we got relegated

we had just bought anelka for him

didnt we then sell anelka before the january 08 spend - matt taylor, cahill, etc

re who fathead wouldve signed, definitely alan smith if rumours are to be believed

the just look at who he spunked newcastles money on

its not a comforting read

Allardyce to sign Australia international striker Mark Viduka (free transfer), utility man Alan Smith (£6 million), midfielder Geremi Njitap, controversial midfielder Joey Barton (£5.5 million), left-back José Enrique (£6.3 million), right-back Habib Beye (£2 million), and defender Abdoulaye Faye.[110]

dont forget he was also very involved in mcann, samuel and cid being bolton players

aye

look at where he took us from and where he got us too and the situation we found ourselves in

you can bang on about the likes of Cid, McCann and Samuel, but look at the others he did great deals on like Tal Ben Haim, Stelios, Davies, Okocha, Djorkaeff, Faye, Ricketts, Speed and even Pedersen - there's only so long you can go round scratching for bargains before you think fuck this, think 8 years shows he was up for it more than most

you can see the logic, you can see where he wanted to try and take us, and you can see why he decided to move on

or you can't / don't / won't

whether or not he would've made it to the CL, we will never know, but we're on a thread again where he's a cunt for leaving us because he had ambition and couldn't take us any further, but Rioch is a saint, because he reckoned his father in law was ill, but why that would be a deciding factor in him taking or rejecting a top PL job, I don't know, still, see what you want to see

Edited by ZicoKelly

Some of the names he signed for Newcastle seemed bang on

Unless they was past there prime
