Racist Fat C*nts

I was surprised to see Roy 'Chubby' Brown's act is mainly a racist cuntery these days - not particularly funny either, certainly not up to the Bernard Manning levels - now he had timing.

They just said what most folk were thinking at the time, and had a laugh about it. Then the loony left kicked in - re-invented the racist word & ruined it all.

There has to be some irony in having such a ridiculous debate with someone whose aviator is half black man/half gorilla.

Made you cringe eh? Beltin'

BTW, you haven't seen me use that word anywhere - nor will you ever.

Why won't you use it ? Serious question as despite disagreeing with you about ever subject under the sun apart from football beer and women's breasts. I do sometimes see the logic of your arguments

Simple enough mate. i have West Indian and Afro American friends, some of which are amongst the best people I have ever known. Why would I use a word that either does or would offend them?

Wouldn't defend its use either - even by Afro Americans. If it's not alright for whiteys etc. to use it, it shouldn't be OK for anyone.to do so. When you consider its origins are likely to be thick confederate rednecks involved in the slave trade who couldn't wrap their uneducated gobs around the word 'negro', even more desirable that it should fade from the lexicon.

This bit was my favourite.

Kin 'el are you and Cas stalkers? . . . I'm pretty sure I don't know you if I do PM me, the suspense is killing me . . . ;)

So you agree that a joke where the reference is used should be deemed racist then?

I was as you know saying it was racist in the quote from Manning.

I honestly didn't know so I take that back then, I thought you were saying it in a general way like the comment about saying 'they look the same or something along those lines.

Which has been shown (by science no less!) to be a human cognitive thing, rather than a racist thing, and can be backed up with repeatable testing.

You can in my opinion find a specific race or disability related joke funny but it doesn't mean you are racist or intolerant of disabilities.

I think it has been implied that because MH finds or found a racist joke or jokes funny that he is racist.

There is a huge difference between being racist and chuckling at a line in a film or similar.

How many on here make sexist remarks and find that amusing? Is that socially acceptable no it's not. Does it make you a bad person for laughing at the remarks or in some cases making them. No it doesn't as there is a line and most know where it is and when's it's being crossed.

Cheers, but the thing is I don't find it funny, not really, and certainly not the chubby stuff that has been discussed here.

Ani, many do see the logic so either we're all retards or perhaps someone isn't getting the point?

I don't think I could have been clearer on this thread if I'd tried

As I've mentioned, it's a rather emotive and ambiguous subject at present - clearly - hence the thread and where it's gone.

I HAPPEN TO LIKE ASIAN FOOD BUT I HAVE NO DOUBT SOME THINK IT STINKS. PERSONAL OPINION I SUPPOSE. ARE THEY NOT ALLOWED TO THINK IT STINKS EVEN IF YOU AND I DON'T MIND IT?

in case you missed it, the joke was:

"There's an old man who lives alone next door, and we were a bit worried because we hadn't see him since Christmas. The postman came round and said there was a fucking awful smell coming from his letterbox. So I called the police. They knocked down his door and our worst fears were confirmed. He'd gone away: Pakis had moved in!"

no one thinks MH is racist, but that's he's fucking joking if he thinks that Chubby Brown can deliver that one and then try to convince people it's just banter, unoffensive, or not in anyway racist

yeah, folk may laugh at that and that doesn't make them by default racist, it really doesn't, but to pretend it's not a racist joke is ridiculous

that's the debate exactly

I don't think anyone thinks MH is racist, and everyone on here will chuckle at a racist or sexist joke from time to time

it's just people have differing opinions on where the line is

to say the material that chubby brown delivers isn't racist is a bit mental

to defend it by saying it's ok for rappers to say nigger is very naive

Agree the joke is racist. Is it funny yes I believe it is. Would I say it to a neighbour who happened to be Pakistani? No. Would I come out with it randomly to a colleague at work or a stranger? no

Would I say it to a number of Asian friends I have? Absolutely as I know they would see the funny side

does that make me in anyway racist. Not at all

Agree it's all about where the line is. Sad thing is the people most likely to complain about a joke like this aren't even Pakistanis or Asians they are people seeking attention on Facebook etc and just general do gooders.

I'e said before I don't find it funny or acceptable, and wouldn't use it or like to be around it, but it is questionable whether that constitutes racism.

It is certainly using overt racial language in a derogatory way but isn't racism by the strictest definition.

However, what constitutes racism today is unclear and the term has become ambiguous.

Apartheid = racist      A Bernard Manning gag = offensive (possibly)

I'll add that I find it pretty surprising that Chubby's act has been allowed in this day and age ...

I'm not contradicting myself either before anyone starts.

I wish folk would read posts before they spout off - not just you, Zico, but it's annoying having to repeat the same thing over and over yet still folk either ignore it or somehow assume it means something different to what's there in black and white.

Usually the minorities don't complain because they've had decades of complaining about it and being told to toughen up and no fucker doing anything about it.

Why should those the offensive language is directed at be the only ones able to say it's unacceptable.

As has been said before there is a vast difference between banter and name calling between friends who know each other and what they can and can't joke about. And some fat cunt in a biggles hat telling jokes to an audience of baying numpties.

I've got friends and family from pretty much every race, religion, sexuality, gender under the sun.

Some of them I will rip the shit out of around their 'minority status' others I know that would be out of bounds.

Also people like the MP complaining about a flag designed by a 12yr old symbolising The Black Country are twats.

And only harm the cause when there's real issues to call out

Exactly

Everyone should be able to stand up against unacceptable behaviour be it racism or anything. What's unacceptable is people doing it for their own publicity as it can as you point out just make matters worse.

it's just people have differing opinions on where the line is

This. And it will never be resolved

fwiw I've never found Chubby Brown funny. Ever. A shit comedian who relies on being offensive to appeal to the lowest common denominator of society - and not just offensive in terms of racism

Remember listening to summat about Jimmy Carr. It may even have him talking I can't remember but the point being made was that no topic is off limits to a genuine comedian. It's all about the delivery and the intent. Strangely though the one topic he will never joke about is Hillsborough which seems quite random to be the ONLY topic

Talking about stuff you don't find funny any more...

Bo selecta. It's proper shit when you're all grown up.

I watched an episode of The Young Ones recently. What a massive pile of unfunny shit that really is.

I used to think it was hilarious

Which is pretty much the reaction I would expect from any decent person.

I have mentioned before my ex father in law in a shop asked for a sofa that was 'nigger brown' for him it was just the name of a colour. He never thought anyone would be offended just a daft old twat.

I think all of is with parents of a certain age have been there

Barring the odd moment, it was always shit. Just could never get it.

My nan used to send me to "the paki shop" for stuff it drove my mum batty.

My grandad used to call all refs 'black bastards' I choked on my pie when he directed it towards Uriah Rennie. Or when he said about Abdoulaye Faye 'bloody hell you'd not see him in a dark alley unless he smiled'.

Bloody hilarious but massively offensive

The bit about Faye shouldn't be should it, as long as its purely an observation. Unfortunately sounds like it wasnt.

Strangely, a black family once lived at the bottom of my street. They were very dark skinned, it was cold and had been snowing; which was probably the reason why the chap was out doing something to his car with the bonnet open. There was indeed a very dark alley adjacent to his house, and purely at the time I got near his car, he'd stepped off his drive into the darkness, and without word of a lie, he'd disappeared. I shat myself when a voice said hello. When he smiled I genuinely noticed him.

Once I'd calmed down I laughed my tits off thinking about the very phrase.

What's wrong with the faye one

Is it not a statement of fact

Yes it is. Can see where frank is coming from though, plenty would be uneasy with it.

Aye probably not racist but certainly a bit close to the bone.
