I posted this as the debate that ensued from it suggests when I said earlier on this thread that the term racist has become ambiguous, and is questionable when used in comedic ways as she does, holds true.

If dressing as a character from a film is deemed racist we may was well give up.

 

They were dressed as the Jamaican bobsleigh team not the black and white minstrels FFS.

 

In case anyone is not sure of the difference the bob sleigh team were national heroes the minstrels looked like the old fashioned uncle Toms.

 

If someone with a hint of HP dressed as Eddie the Eagle it also would fine.

One would be tempted to give them the benefit of doubt, however this is a photo of three of the four 'workshopping' other ideas for their float prior to the carnival...
