The government has dropped the amendment they had proposed to delay the vote on a labour motion to open an investigation into the PMs comments and actions. That is quite a coup for Starmer and must increase the chances that all MPs will vote with their conscience on this matter.

It hamstrung not only Johnson but the Coservatives. If people vote against an investigation, they are supporting Johnson and that looks like its making a political decision rather than one which is more in tune with the public mood. It essentially tarrs anyone who votes against it that they agree with Johnson and that isn't a good look for the party and Labour can bash them with that all day long in the run up to the local elections.

No one wants him gone just yet, they need him to help deflate the rest of the party first.

Very well put by Baker.

He's only got a majority of 4k - no wonder his arse is twiching.

Those in slim majorities don't want to go into the next election with their opposite number saying, ''this person supported Johnson when you couldn't see your relatives, they are not to be trusted and don't represent you but their own party above morals...''

As mentioned, Johnson has backed his own party into a shitty corner.

Apart from the ten minutes of religious twodle that preceded it.

Lets have a fresh start and get BJ binned.

I think the problem is that Johnson's Slash and Burn cabinet policy means there's slim pickings for a fresh start.

They need to look beyond the cabinet then.

Even then, its not great.

Also you then have the issue of trying to get a relative nobody embedded in the public consciousness in two years, what they stand for, policies etc It's not that long.

As I say, Johnson has caused a lot of damage to his own party.

Worst cabinet ever. Dorries, Patel, Truss, Raab, Rees Mogg, Sunak and Lewis are absolutely awful.

Couldn't even get a solid back four out of that.

Don't forget that hapless cunt Shapps.

Grant Schapps always has the air of a bloke who's living in a bedsit after being booted out by his wife because she's started shagging her personal trainer.

He just looks constantly lost. Ironic, given his "job"

I don’t understood how the mps who keep supporting him can’t see how badly it reflects on them . The longer he’s there the more they have to defend him and the worse they look .

Every days a school day

Given I thought he would be toast a number of times previously, surely the charred remains of PM Johnson can be finally swept in the bin?

Or is he going to cling on until enough letters finally get sent into the 1922?

Yes. And even then he will try to bluff it out.

And his brother is in Big Audio Dynamite

Henry Zeffman on Twitter: "Grant Shapps' brother Andre played keyboards in Big Audio Dynamite - the band founded by his cousin Mick Jones, formerly of The Clash" / Twitter

Band formed by Mick Jones after The Clash, but Shapps brother only joined them in the mid 90s.

...I think I'm due to go to another pub quiz...

Johnson will obviously survive.

He’s surrounded himself with such a lack of talent that the whole party is probably terrified of the potential replacement.

He can be clever when it comes to looking after number one.

The mahooosive cunt that he is.
