Is there anyone who can defend this wanker and his shower of sycophants?

BD has been quiet for ages, maybe even he can see this is the most shithouse cabinet ever assembled.

But one that’s chucked an unprecedented amount of money to support the nation. Of course Labour, SNP, liberals and greens would have chucked more at it.

Every modern nation on earth has done the same though.

You can't say others would have done more or not as they aren't in the hot seat. What we do know is Labour asked for help months ago and nothing, the tories voted it down in Parliament.  Yet the day after the Sue Grey's report they finally do exactly that. Does that not ring off to you?

Then the day after that something else, the ministerial code is worth shit now.

We have become like Trump America, its fucking farcical.

He'll be back with a pithy one liner as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Very few countries have given the amount of support through covid that this government have given, Sunak has said all along more support will be forthcoming with fuel bills when he had seen the bigger picture, it was handy that the financial support was released in time for the Gray report is just what politicians of all persuasions do.

Regarding the ministerial code this can be changed in the future should the Labour Party get into power, and if we are becoming Trump like and the voting public don’t like it then the fate Trump experienced so will Johnson.

The facts are this government have massively supported the nation throughout the last few years, my guess is that despite Johnson obvious frailties and once he’s removed from power the Tories will remain in power after this term.

Fair enough. Plenty think otherwise.

The cap-doffing, red-faced subjects will continue to defend him.

with every mistake he makes, they seem more hellbent on lapping it all up.

They simply cannot bring themselves to admit they are making a mistake supporting him. It’s the football supporter mentality - they are incapable of acknowledging that political support is not the same as football support. They are Tory, and a Tory they must always be.

It’s fucking WEIRD

If you're referring to me as one of them you couldn't be more wrong.

I have no love for this government but there's a lot of hysteria and misinformation going around about the changes to the ministerial code tonight.

Regardless of the "hysteria" you perceive, why do they want to water down the Ministerial Code in the first place? It's clearly useless anyway. If it was followed as intended, dozens of Cabinet Ministers would have resigned already, included the Prime Minister. The effects of the changes are not the issue - it's the reasoning behind them.

The ministerial code has always been practically useless. They are unenforceable guidelines, nothing more.

The Prime Minister of the day is the ultimate arbiter of whether the ministerial code has been breached (an indication, if ever it were needed, of how meaningless the code is) and every Prime Minister writes their own.

But, to answer your question, they've clarified (rather than "watered down") the code so that it's now clear there are a range of punishments available (fines, apologies, etc.), reflecting the level of seriousness of any alleged breaches, rather than a simple, binary "sacked or no punishment whatsoever" option.

Fundamentally, very little has changed.

And the code still makes it clear that if a Minister is found to have knowingly misled Parliament they will be expected to resign.

By your very own description, it has been watered down. Basically, it was "If you commit misconduct while in public office, you should resign". Now it's "If you commit misconduct while in public office, the consequences depend on what you've done".

No, it's always been the former. They clarified the wording of the code to make it abundantly clear.
