If she does resign it might be quicker but still rudderless for weeks. 

suggestion is that mordaunt/sunak have the wind in their sales

and that stringer and the 22 committee can change the rules v quickly to allow an unchallenged candidate to take over

We have had the 2nd, 3rd and 4th shortest terms survived by a Chancellor since Boris got elected.
