Most people are bothered about the ones they already have and that is dictated by global trends. Again, I’m not defending the shit show of the last few weeks. I said at the time it was the wrong budget at the wrong time. What was needed was a more austere budget to bring down inflation. One of the culprits has gone, the other could also go. The overriding problems are still there though. Your original statement was that interest rates have not been affected but they have been. Anyone taking a fixed rate mortgage in next 2-3 months will be paying more. The chair of the CBI was on Question Time last week and supported the principles of what Truss wants to achieve but said basically - it does not all have to happen now and not all at the same time. Markets want clarity of message and direction backed up by numbers. The lack of these three elements is part of the shit show. The continued infighting within the Tory party is ongoing and until the party has some leadership it makes the opposition parties job far too easy. The press conference tonight was embarrassing. BTW agree 100% with your second para. - See we can agree 😎😂 Edited October 14, 2022 by Ani Added a bit at end Quote

No one should think Labour has it in the bag by a loooooooong way. I'd be ignoring all the polls at the moment, as this is just an extordinary mismanagement that is the end game that started at Brexit, stumbled into Johnson, showed a lack of leadership during a pandemic which has led to this. It's not actually about Truss, she is the end point of a very long, disappointing and ultimately disastrous period in this country. This is what you get when you except poor leadership, incompetent governments, vested self interest groups and shadow think tanks to lead a population. This is the brink, enjoy the view people because its going to be something to tell the grandkids about. Quote

It’s like they support slavery. I thought we as a country had moved on? Obviously not. Quote

We lost 12 polish workers who were paid £16 an hour and put the local lads to shame with their attitude and work ethic. Theyre back in Poland now because…well, you know. And what we have instead are a a dozen jobs that we are struggling to fill because local lads think they’re worth more and don’t want to work. Edited October 14, 2022 by Spider Quote

Probably why he wasn’t so enthusiastic about Brexit. For balance, Cameron and his government’s official line was remain. It’s a funny old world politics. Quote
