Because what we have now is utopia

From when Cameron got in after labours last failure and 2008 recession I’ve been doing well. Just need to look at the cities skylines to see how much work has been going on. Since 2010

Do you agree that global pressures on interest rates have and will have more of an impact than anything that happened last week or anything that this or any other government does?

It's not so much global pressures as the pressure of being held artificially low for far too long. Interest rates rightly dropped for global reasons in 2008/9 but should have risen in the Cameron years. The BoE governor of the day (Osborne's poodle) followed the political line instead of raising interest rates (and thus helping to keep house price increases in check).

We are not isolated from global trends.

You're right in saying that there's an upwards trend when it comes to inflation and interest rates globally.

So surely the worst possible course of action is to announce a fiscal plan that's going to accelerate all of the worst aspects of that global trend at the moment it's announced.

It's vandalism - pure and simple. And if that had been any other party at the helm I'm absolutely positive you'd be up in arms.

You might have been doing well. But public services are in their arse. So on one hand we've got some lovely new buildings - but on the other, old people are dying alone in dingy flats that haven't been renovated for decades.

Swings and roundabouts.

If you asking if in the long term global factors have a significant impact on rates , of course they do.

But you have to acknowledge that national governments also have an impact or otherwise everybody would be the same. Our Govt chose a path last week that was flawed and they did not bother explaining to the markets what they were aiming for and how the numbers stacked up over time and that has impacted the markets and a direct hit to mortgage rates being offered.

Anyone who wants to work can get work, there is no reason zero contract hours folk can’t find 40 hours work if they wish, why would they be included in unemployment figures when there is more than enough work to go round and some.

I was thinking because they sign up to a company

That company puts them on zero hours, as in we'll tell you when you work

These 40 hours contract you mention though, I assume they are widely available otherwise there would be no zero hours contracts

Not only in the long term but also in the last few weeks as far as mortgage rates being offered. Most people are bothered about the ones they already have and that is dictated by global trends.

Again, I’m not defending the shit show of the last few weeks. I said at the time it was the wrong budget at the wrong time. What was needed was a more austere budget to bring down inflation. One of the culprits has gone, the other could also go. The overriding problems are still there though.

I’m NOT defending Truss or the budget.

You could choose to ignore.  I’m passing on valuable knowledge from someone who’s an expert, he’s read books and everyfink

Before passing on the message, you could read it, form an opinion and decide whether it's worthy of passing on

Saying don't shoot the messenger sounds very Greek or Roman times

It’s been passed on here many of times. It’s good to see some people making their own choices and not listening to the WW experts. Give yourself a clap.

I'm willing to bet one thing.

In a parallel universe where we'd have voted Labour and Milliband instead of Conservative and Cameron (and then stuck with them) - the country would be in a hell of a better state than it is right now. Which is quite frankly a fucking basket case.

Been listening to some of the callers on radio 5 and the experts on radio 4.

Blimey, it's brutal out there for the Tories. Again most saying that today has made things worse.

Given the virtually zero unemployment rates anyone who wants a normal job with guaranteed hours can get one, anyone with zero contracts hours who wants permanent should just go out and get one.

So all these jobs are available up and down every town and city in the country?
