I didnt realise you meant the deficit was at an historical high

Doesnt surprise me

Didn’t mention the deficit, just that exports are at record levels. However no surprise the deficit is high given we are waving imports through.

Edited by Mounts Kipper

TBF to Mounts I read that as we are doing more trade (imports and exports) with the EU than previous. Which is what he said.

Is the record deficit a brexit bonus?

I was pointing out our exports never been higher,  because someone mentioned we’d cut ourselves off from our biggest export market. That’s plainly not true.

She's already gone I reckon, no way is she rocking up to PMQs on Wednesday

In comparison to the EU … I should stress.

That’s the speculation.

I wonder if she has imposter syndrome.

possibly, but no way are we just letting stuff in without checking anything, I know because I've still got stuff stuck at Felixstowe

Could that be lack of manpower or trucks to move it?  We are seeing delays on goods coming through ports but not sure it’s customs checks.

Its the normal practice for the PM to send in someone else to answer an emergency tabled question.

The fact it's being spun against her shows how low her stock is.

To be honest, it's a bit of everything. Lack of manpower, strike action.....but also some of it is down to the paperwork, as we now have to jump hoops to bring battery products into the UK from the EU, so it doesn't get waved through anymore, it just seesm to sit there, doing fuck all for days/weeks at a time. We now factor in, as a leadtime, 6-8 weeks from China to Germany, and then another 4-6 weeks from Germany to our warehouse (when that used to be 3-4 days)

either way, do you think brexit has

a)  had no effect

b)  made it worse

c)  made it better

ps  its not c)

:)

Some of it is down to Brexit, lots of other factors though which have nothing to do with Brexit and being experienced worldwide. .… needless to say the relationship between UK and EU needs to improve, it needn’t of been this way if we could of agreed on equivalence without having to be tied into the EU strings.

We have to fill out additional import documentation and commercial invoice data on our imports and it adds time, costs and resource that was not required when we were part of the EU.

Yep, that’s how imports work all across the globe, standard procedure.

Regarding the truss situation anyone else think the 1922 are coming up with a plan to dispose of her and replace her with Sunak? Can see new rule where a new PM resigns short period after winning the PM election then the runner up automatically takes over… wouldn’t put it past them.

Well you asked why things were slower at our ports and this is one reason plus lack of staff.  #brexit bonus

Im favouring lack of staff… we don’t import from EU and our goods equally held up from China & Pakistan.

Yes we could have employed some adults to constructively agree a deal with reciprocal arrangements but instead we had Lord Frosty and Bozo the clown at the helm.

You seem to be missing the point(again)! These things were not a problem pre-brexit because we were intra-community.  Now things from France can take as long as those from Pakistan because additional checks and documentation is required. It’s not rocket science.

Are we listening to this in parliament? My goodness, this is a total car crash
