The problem with reform party is they have some valid ideas but in reality they are just Tory boys on steroids, and I can’t take to Tice at all. The only way to go with politics is slightly left or right of centre…. The best lot left or right of centre will get my vote. And at the moment that’s the Labour party.

Agreed, the extremes of either side are generally massive bell ends. I'm with you that I'll probably go for whichever is closer to the centre ground - at the minute, that's either LibDem or Labour (and I've never, ever considered voting Labour before in nigh on 30 years of voting)

We've had Theresa May - "The New Iron Lady".... Boris Johnson - "The New Churchill".... and Liz Truss - "The Next Thatcher"..... Now, arise Penny Mordaunt - "Maggie 2.0".

This obsession with trying to recreate "the good old days" became absurd a long time ago.

Serious question, when do you think they'll get rid? - I was hoping by the end of this week, I'm now thinking she might cling on for a few more months.

I think the longer she stays, the worse it gets for them - I also suspect that another change in leadership, means a GE has to be triggered, otherwise they really are taking the piss.

As I said above, they know they've lost the next GE, so they may as well get it over and done with, and just take their medicine, before they fall even further behind

Its pretty simple, really.

They can't get rid immediately as then they'll have to call a GE and at the moment they'd be decimated.

So they are looking at a way to get a new leader than means they can steady the ship for 18 months and even if they lost, it wouldn't be a humiliating rout as if they had to call it in the next few months.

Which is why she's there but not in charge.

The thing that might scupper it is that apparently many MPs are sick to death of the years of drama and embarrasment lead by the idiotic divs at the ERG and want out anyway, so they don't give a stuff about the next election.

But, in my humble opinion they are trying to move the pieces so they at least have a party after the next election.

The sad thing this for us, you know - the public - none of it helps. We don't have a PM in reality, we have a party in charge who are mainly concerned with survival and we're facing real economic problems. There is no strategy, there isn't a agenda, there is just a vaccum of non-exsistance; and whilst this is highly entertaining on a political front it's not any good for any of us.

But the public won't really put up with it, that's the issue. They won't have any credibility. They need to give themselves some distance, and also not many of the MP support Sunak and they'll have just as much in-fighting.

The mess that the Conservatives have dragged this country through to solve their own internal issues is. a. disgrace.

Thought it was common knowledge - its all over the usual sites/twitter commentators and podcasts - The Rest is Politics, The Red Box, News Agents, Newscast, The News Statesman.

Its one of the issues why they can't push her, there isn't one candidate the whole party supports - you've got the one-nationers, the ERG/Libertarian think tank mob, popularists - and it's like herding cats. The party is just a load of different divisions at the moment.
