Labour coming in and just doing simple day to day actions is an improvement on the Tories inaction of recent years. 55 due to go today compared to 4 for £700m in the Rwanda scheme is a small step in the right direction. You would have to be pretty blinkered not to see that as I am sure you would agree ? How can over 11,000 returned this year be inaction? You’re making a big issue of 55. I don’t get it.🤷♂️ Quote

Obviously Rwanda has gone, but no new legislation has been introduced as yet. The actions are carried out by civil servants at the home office, according to instructions/laws. Hopefully something new and more stringent will come along. But even if it does, those pesky lawyers will be picking at it. There is no magic legislation to stop it. People are coming to claim asylum. That is legal btw. They aren’t illegal in the eyes of international law. They come here we process them if they are a genuine case they stay if not they are returned from where they came. We may well try third country processing but I don’t see how that will significantly cut numbers. Rwanda was an expensive waste of time. The only way is to either stop the trade by taking down the gangs. Requires huge international effort and may or may not ultimately be possible. However this is a global problem. People are rocking up in boats all over. Out of the box international solution would be to throw loads of money (I mean loads) at some Middle East countries to found some new Mecca type cities like Dubai with international agreement to send all able migrants there to build and then populate them. Create loads of new dwellings to house migrants and build new modern cities for tourism and commerce. Quote

Shutting down a motorway could have killed someone. Personally, I’m delighted they’ve been sentenced. Hopefully they will be out doing a heavy bout of community service before too long.
