It's quite amazing how incredibly wrong he got it, I'm not sure that one single thing he predicted has actually happened, yet.

To be fair, JRM says it cocks take up to 50 years, perhaps that's when we should judge if it's a success is not

Looks like 120 Labour MP’s are going to vote against the government next week. Would that be unprecedented? Could Starmer and Reeves survive?

Course they could

I think the country is generally supportive of cuts, sorry reform,  to benefits

Itll be interesting to see the tories and reform attempt to spin voting against labour, which starmer will spin as them supporting the unsustainable status quo

Fwiw, if starmer suggests calling an election, enough 'rebels' will fall in line

Itd be the dole queue for many

Of course they survive. I have to say I'm on their side on this one, but it has cause ructions - even at local level.

The difference is we've got policy discussions finally rather then the either personal or rip the country apart nonsense of the Conservative Party.

Who are now, really strangely not even part of the national discussion such is the mess of the 'opposition'

I heard earlier today, the oddity here is the Government will probably lose this vote. Labour folk voting against, as they think the cuts/reform go too far.... Tory/Reform voting against it as x the cuts/reform don't go far enough.

Which I guess shows that Labour is smack in the centre.

As per the earlier question, even if they lose, both Starmer and Reeves stay in their jobs.

Sorry mate, this is not a policy discussion is it ? This is the leadership forcing through a policy measure that in theory is 100% right. Most people agree the system is broken and needs fixing. But they are doing it in such a ham fisted way it is going to end of catching people who need the support rather than those taking the piss. 44000 people claiming in Bradford alone !

I sat through a PIP interview with my missus, basically a dozen questions and she answered honestly got rejected. This was despite her work making her redundant on the grounds of Ill health saying she was unfit to work. If someone plays the game they know what to say and get the money. These changes are so similar to the winter fuel changes it is amazing they are not rethinking. It is so easy for opponents to beat them with it. Going for a target that is easy to reach rather than those they need to reach.

This will save £5bn ( I think) but where is the clamp down on the £36bn per year tax shortfall ? I know they can not do everything at once and appreciate some the good they are doing but fuck me why so much hitting people who need support but so little at those that can afford d something ? I am sure you did not join the Labour Party for such policies ?

It feels like they want to do ‘stuff’ but there is not enough thought being given to the cumulative impact of so many hits.

That does look a large number. Obviously we'll never know, but I wonder how many of them are genuine claimants, and how many are piss takers.

I know one person, in our village, who I'm sure is a pisstaker, she's often seen hobbling along with her pip-stick (dole-pole) and apparently struggles to get around. I know for a fact that she does cash in hand cleaning for a couple of my mates, and when she's doing that the stick is nowhere to be seen 🙂

And just for @Cheese benefit, no I've not reported her, as I'm not actually that bothered

If you were stood behind her in a shop, and you witnessed her pinching £50 from the old dears' purse who was stood in front of her, I doubt you'd ignore it.

true, but I've not witnessed that, if I do though, I'll definitely do something about it

But you've witnessed (or at least "know for a fact" of) someone committing disability benefit fraud... 🤔

You can report these things anonymously...

At least he’s getting this sorted 🙄 estimated cost of 1 billion.

I know I can, I just don't want to. I'm sure somebody else will at some point, it just won't be me. I might even see if she can come and clean my house, as we just got rid of our last cleaner

Social media is where ‘young uns’ get their news. Mad how different this would have been just 5 or 6 years ago.

Private funding and anyone with shares in the companies involved will be most pleased. They'll spend any money they make on new cars and things, thus contributing to the economy. And it's cost Mr Taxpayer nothing at all.

Wily old fox, that Starmer.

The 44k is from the MP for Bradford East, he claims that number in his constituency which has about 75k registered voters so that would about 60% of voters on PIP.

Summat wrong surely?
