Breakfast clubs

7-8% of schools now benefit from free breakfasts. So we can assume many are still going hungry then. Hardly the flex he was claiming really.

He's going to say "But the breakfast clubs are in school, so they're still going to school hungry" or something equally banal.

He’s not

I don't know the figures behind it, maybe millions is an exaggeration, but that's what he would have been referring to as it was a manifesto pledge

But it's better than nothing

Not till September this year. Thats over two years the poor children have been starving since they came in. Year 1 and 2 have been getting them since 2014 in state schools. I think that was a Tory government that introduced it. I think that’s correct. Please check, I’m out and about.👍

You’re correct, Labour are increasing the number of eligible children later this year.

So of all his manifesto pledges, including the ridiculous ones like “smash the gangs” you would think this would be one of the easiest. What’s stopping them feeding these starving kids?

Lack of money, and not really being arsed about peasant kids, presumably.

No such thing, especially when it comes to starving kids…..British starving kids. Let’s just put it down to another broken promise/lie call it what you want.

I'm not sure Streeting beats Starmer in a leadership challenge

I doubt he'll get the 81 MP's backing him to trigger a leadership challenge anyway.
