Ani Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 And then he got knocked out himself shortly after. That is good news. Quote
tomski Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Desperate for a quality central midfielder, have been for yearsYep. I think if we can get the enforcer type then karacan and Vela can play their natural game and it becomes a good 3 Quote
bolton va va Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I think the loss of Spearing & being unable to bring in anyone who can play the defensive midfield role properly, has hurt us badly. Weakening our defensive cover against much better forwards has left our centre halfs terribly exposed. The wing back thing is another problem....Taylor is a good defender being made to look poor by pushing too far forward, & Morais is a good winger being made to look poor by dropping too deep. It might be better to play 2 out & out full backs. Howard isn't to blame for the defeats but hardly fills the other defenders or anyone else with any confidence.......maybe time to give Alnwick a go. & pretending that the problems are down to individual mistakes or whatever & nothing to do with the financial imbalance we're facing is drivel......free transfer players are far more likely to make those mistakes than multi million pound signings !!! birch-chorley Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I don't think Spearing's good enough for the step up anyway so no real miss for me Quote
Zico Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Correct 4-5-1 is the only way now and we need to add another centre mid as we are bereft of options. It won't be pretty but I'd rather get a few unlikely 1-0's. Was thinking 4 5 1 must be his plan a when he signed ameobi and Buckley, and to a degree armstrong If we are to go down that route or even persist with 3 5 2 I think he's going to have to stick Derik in midfield or find someone else before the window shuts because the combinations we've tried in the league so far aren't working too well despite two decent away points Quote
DirtySanchez Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Can't use this budget tripe week in week out. Basics weren't good enough last night. Dervite is our best defender by a long stretch at the moment. I'm surprised more didn't get a chance after Tuesday. I think Alnwick, Robinson, little and wilbraham all deserve a crack against Boro. Our fans didn't stop all game and were superb. All 3 aways it's been the same. Hull fans in that section were scroaty little twats and I'm glad the red cap got slammed One of them looked like Tom Hanks in Philadelphia I didn't mention it as there was coppers in ear shot Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 & pretending that the problems are down to individual mistakes or whatever & nothing to do with the financial imbalance we're facing is drivel......free transfer players are far more likely to make those mistakes than multi million pound signings !!! Blindingly obvious to most right minded people but not to a fair proportion of our lot. Quote
