One of the moments that you will always remember, on a building site in Warrington when news broke through.

I was in the air having just flown out of O'Hare.

 

Weird timing for me. Wasn't supposed to be leaving until the 14th - spending time up in the Wisconsin Dells. Missus started getting all weird at the weekend (more than usual) saying things like 'I don't think we should be here now' and 'can we leave earlier'. Our next stop was Manchester so I was convinced she just wanted to get to her mother and sisters earlier than would otherwise have been the case and frustratingly shortening our US holiday.

 

After calming down I said to her 'if you really want to leave earlier I'll ring United Airlines to see what can be done'. Spookily, the bird said "you are in luck, we have just had a party of three cancel for Monday nights flight if you want them". As we had our daughter with us, we took them and you can imagine our shock (after a very nice maiden voyage flight on a British Midland brand new aeroplane - some sort of partnership with UA)  when we arrived in Tonge Fold only to think the M-in-law was watching some sort of disaster movie and then find out what it actually was.

 

I am a complete non believer in all of this mumbo jumbo spiritual 'seeing into the future' type shite but to this day I have wondered about the missus' apparent ability to sense impending doom. One thing I do know, she saved us a fucking fortune in accommodation bills etc. which we would have had to have paid due to the lock down which transpired (3 weeks I think it was).

There's all sorts of spiritual stories around, I heard one recently that blew my mind.

 

I used to know, as a kid, when the whites had scored (away matches when I wasn't there). Some strange things abound, too many to ignore, but best not to go to deep. Could screw you up.

First one was a potential accident.

Second one left no doubt it was a deliberate act of terrorism.

3000 innocent people who were just going about their everyday lives senselessly murdered.

I wonder what the perpetrators think they achieved?

No 9/11 then no War on Terror and the mess that was the Allied invasion and occupation of Iraq.

I've been in my house 16 years today. I remember trying to pack but was glued to the TV. It should have been a happy occasion but I'll always think of that instead.

Working at a uni at the time. Loads of employees gathered in a large room with a TV. Utterly jaw dropping time.

Not the USA I appreciate, but I was in Argentina a couple of years ago and they had no problem at all with one guy taking a sealed box which appeared to contain six bottles of wine on to the flight as hand luggage. It could have been any type of liquid in there. They didn't even ask him to open the box so they could check what was in it.
