Wanderers 1-0 Sunderland

Chris Coleman has just described it as the biggest in Sunderland's history.

As shit as they are, they may just be up for it.

It's as must win as games get. For both teams.

Not making excuses for him as he was all over the show tonight, but I said at kick off that their very pale blue top didn’t offer much of a contrast to our white.

  • Scrappy 1-0 wins will do for me and that was proper scrappy. Wheater and Beevers both looked knackered after 60 mins and Taylor was well off the pace all game.   ALF looks a better bet up front than

Started a new job this week and a scouser I work with looks the spits of Peter Reid.

Did a big stinky shite in the bog as well just before I went in - he gave me 'that look' on his way out with an almost, but not quite, imperceptible grin.

Anyways, not got a good feeling about tonight.  I just hope we get 3 points by any means necessary.

I’m not bothered who turns up fan wise or not. Just 3 points tonight please. If you choose to be that bad away then crank up the pressure at home well so be it. Coywm

1-2

Looking forward to this, one of those important season defining matches. Come on you whites.

Not sure about that line up. But without Little and Vela it was never going to be easy picking the team. Would have stuck with Robinson even though he had a shocker Saturday; for me Derek should not have made the bench

5-4-1?

Wilbs certainly worth a go given the last two games haven't yielded owt.

Might be a good foil for Zach, here's hoping

At least immobile Derik is out

Sorry random question... can you return away tickets if no longer required?

When Wilbraham is the answer you really wonder what the question is?

Brum losing

Burton winning at barnsley

And hull losing

So far so good

They are going to get back in this unless we start pushing further up the pitch

Hahaha. Can't wait for that guy to (try and) take revenge on Wilbs!

There's some guy who sits in the West Stand Upper who you can hear ALL GAME when you watch on iFollow.

"I've been telling you for weeks, Parkinson" was a personal highlight today.

Sit back anymore and we lose this

Who is not performing???

Been poor. But we are winning

Sit back anymore and we lose this

Who is not performing???

Seems to be more of a sense of panic everytime we break up their attacks, which inevitably leads to their keeper getting the loose ball and initiating another attack.

We need someone to take it down and control it in midfield. Perhaps we are missing Josh in there?

Y fronts on screaming at SkySports News again? :D

Needs to get Wilbraham off and ALF on. There's no movement up front.

Of course

Needs to get Wilbraham off and ALF on. There's no movement up front.

It's not lack of movement, but totally lack of pace.

Wilb and Zack are both slow as molasses.

The problem is double-edged though. If you're going to play someone like Wilbraham as a target man, you can't play long and through balls that he'll never catch, you have to play direct or to his feet. When the ball has gone to him, he has held it well and brought Ameobi and ZC into the attack, but most of the time he's (fruitlessly) chasing a through ball that he'll never get to.

Play to the strengths of your players, and don't try to shoehorn players into a system that doesn't suit them. Do that and we'll be OK this season, but this game is being a prime example of how NOT to set up tactically.
