Now, if LW had posted that, I would have presumed the weather was ok with no snow or rain in Reading and decent conditions.   Seeing as you posted it P, im actually more confident of a win tonight w

One day soon Parky will land on a team and a system that actually works quite well for us.

He's certainly tried a few combo's.

Strange given the likes of Eavsey and Meldrew on here will say he has no plan B.

As said, a good point given the results but looked like we could have won it.  Shame.

On current form Wednesday and Brum are in free fall and we're tootling along nicely.

I rarely bet on football but I may stick a few quid on us staying up.  Guaranteed to lose Sat now  :D

It’s in our hands really.

Win against the four other teams around us and that would leave brum needing 6 wins from 9.

Well prior to last night we’d play the exact same way every single match he’s been manager.

There would be no one more happy than me if he had decided to scrap the aimless hoof approach which was in full swing against Preston.

To make 6 changes and implement ‘plan b’ with one days training is bordering a miracle. Of which he should be praised for.

He’s reinvented the team and system about 5 times since being here. It’s absolute bollocks to say we’ve always played the same way.

Last season we had Ameobi and Clough with Vela cutting through sides. When they left he turned Morais into a dynamic wing back and we won our points that way.

This season we started with a 3 at the back that didn’t work. Switched to a 4-5-1 and Madine caught fire. When he left we’ve tried 3 different systems.

What you are claiming is demonstrably untrue.

they were there for the taking last night, I hope we don't regret it

we won't come up against a worse centre back pairing at this level. one of them was a 17 year old flung in for his debut

lost our way after the subs - would rather have seen clough on

It’s an away point which for us are so hard to come by

However yes looking back we should of won comfortably against the worst side I have seen so far

Its between the four B's & Sunderland.

The bookies have Burton & Sunderland gone.

You can get 5/2 on us to be relegated.

Brum at home is massive and if we can win that, I don't think they will catch us.

As long as they don’t pass it to Vela his second touch is invariably a tackle.

Bloody he'll mate; quick control and passing of the ball hasn't been a common feature of anyone's game.

Formations etc have indeed changed and some evolution has necessarily taken place. There is undoubtedly a long ball ethos though. No problem with that if it's effective and yields results.

Unfortunately too often it's been passes to no one.

Happy enough to see the season out and stay up. Next season we do need to start making life a bit easier for ourselves.

Win on Saturday and Sheff Weds will be bricking it as well. We’re really not in a bad position at all in comparison to some of the others.

folk saying why didn't we play this way sooner

1 we had something that worked

2 reading are poor

3 the german is the key to playing that way

As Iles keeps saying, anyone who thinks Parky is telling Wheater, Dervite etc to launch long balls at ALF's head is deluded. They do it because the other team presses and we panic or our midfield isn't good enough to play through the opposition.

Preston played plenty of long balls Saturday and used their pace. We lack pace and without Madine lack physicality up front. Its a tough one for Parky to solve as in my mind both ALF and Clough need a partner (that we've not got) and Walker looks poor.

Yeah, I was proper excited for Kirchhoff, as he is an ex guardiola prodigy at Bayern.

He already looks like he might give us an extra 10% of possession.

Great player, need to keep him fit.

PP has to rebuild at every transfer window with no money. Making life easier for ourselves will only come with survival. IMO though he will have earned the right to have a go.

go on then i will play. what about when Alnwick does his little spin then launches it to their keeper. is that not instructed? being so hoof orientated must be at least instructed. we launch it even on free kicks with no pressure.

and casino i know preston press etc before you bullet point me

Hoofing is ok when it's for a purpose, we do it with no purpose

City proved that the other week in the cup final

We put free kicks into the box with our centre halves up. Is that not sensible? Our keeper often throws the ball out to the fullbacks (who often lose it straight away, especially Robinson).

I watched us a few years ago take short corner after short corner, each time losing the ball before we got it in the box or managed anything approaching a shot. I'd rather we just lumped it in there than that.

Most sides play off a striker in some way in this league. Whether its a big man or one with lots of pace. There isn't that many sides who pass through teams. I don't even think we're top 6 for long balls.

I get people think we hoof it aimlessly.

Which of our back 8 or 9 that have played this season want to be playing it out from the back ?

at times we have shown we can play.

maybe i am expecting too much from a professional footballer.

Launching every ball forward (due to pressure at times) in no particular direction just invites more pressure. again i am probably wrong and expect too much but we don't seem to target people it appears to be hit and hope.

you would have kittens with anybody other than burke and morais on the ball

and thats the point

anybody who thinks parky asks em to boot it into orbit is, quite frankly, a bit of a dick

Our professional footballers are not playing against a bunch of amateurs they are playing against a bunch of pros who do everything they can to make life difficult for our lot.

Given more time of course they could better but they do not get that luxury. The fact they are pros but limited explains why we have signed them for next to nothing.

if you must insist on calling him the german, at least call him Ze German
