barrycowdrill Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Of course, but its likely that our youngsters aren't better than what we're playing in the first team. That is just the reality. Its frustrating to see us play poorly, but there isn't always an answer to fix it. bwfc - the unfixable problem one sentence would go a long way in resolving the unfathomable "Mark, you gormless fucktard if i see you shank a 50 yard ball again instead of passing the ball on the floor 5 yards ill leather you. dick head" Quote

Henry, Pratley & Deryk are all defensive midfielders who don't want the ball & would pass it straight back to Beevers if he gave it to them, & we don't have a creative midfield player, or the money to buy one, in the squad. As Parkinson picks those midfielders clearly the game plan is to launch it. As you say beevers doesn’t have an alternative. But according to Iles Parkinson’s directive is not to just launch it. And players are therefore disobeying him by just punting it. Therefore we have a whopping great big disconnect somewhere. No midfielders showing for it No midfielders capable of taking the ball off defenders. Manager who doesn’t want us to launch it but picks a team with no composed players in it. What are the jobs of the assistant managers and coaches? Do they not see the problem either? Or do we have Sandy Shaw Stewart back in the coaching staff again? Quote

You don't press a button and say "hey lets play short controlled football". Virtually every team in this league goes long for spells in games. Apart from maybe Wolves. That's because they're under pressure, or they can't break teams down, or they simply want the ball forward quickly. We tried to pass it against Birmingham. But because we're technically not the best the passing was sideways and backwards because we don't have anyone to change the tempo of the game when doing that. We are a side who needs a fast tempo and therefore getting the ball forward quickly and playing off second balls has generally been our best bet. I'm sure Parky isn't telling Beevers to launch it at ALF's head, but then Beevers gets it is closed down and can either go back, sideways or launch it. That is it. The midfield we've got available, isn't a midfield that you can play through. I don't care who is picked. Our real weakness is a lack of pace all over. There isn't an outlet to give the ball to. So we end up aimlessly going long. If teams bottle up Ameobi nobody else can actually take the ball and keep it and get us up the pitch. Its a huge problem. And its not like we're not picking those sorts. We just don't have them. Quote

Henry, legs may be going a bit but hes calm and assured on the ball when he has it. not difficult to show, get, give Derik. in spite of the fact hes hiding at the moment, hes played at Real Madrid ffs. he can do the above if hes been at that club no matter what level Pratley is playing further up the park, alls he is having to deal with is balls in to his chest. this isnt about a creative midfielder or splashing the cash on one. this is about the players we have in midfield doing more than what theyre doing and if they cant receive the ball comfortably and keep it moving then they shouldnt be professional footballers let alone championship ones! and if according to that bald idiot these long balls arent his directive what the fuck is going on Monday - friday to rectify it Edited April 12, 2018 by barrycowdrill Quote

Soon showed he could step up. Dunno about perry and doubt we ever will. Quote
darrener Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Perry seemed to be a player who wanted the ball and was comfortable on it. Not much use in our team then. ???? Quote
