Good read - Allardyce years

Featured Replies

Never need to apologise for stuff like that. It still all feels a bit unreal though...what a time to be a White.

Does feel unreal, like a different club. Incredible players, beating big teams regularly, full ground, even different crest and all white kit

The era should have secured the clubs foundations for decades to come.

Instead the money was fluttered away like a piss head that’s won the lottery.

Great read that

At least gartsides family are sitting sweet now

Somethings that i believe are not correct in a generally excellent article.

Todd left because of frandsen sale when it was supposed to be he had been sacked but we reduced his payoff with that fib on todds part.

Nakata was successful as i remember it but short lived 1 or 2 years?

Interesting the 92% of league postion is to do with wages.

Which of course very much applies to our current position.

Apart from the odd moment, Nakata wasn’t very good

Same with Candela but folk seem to remember the name be pedigree rather than the performances

He had some decent performances but barely managed half a season

Nakata was best during warm ups and his skills and tricks contest with jayjay.

Before I click on the link is it Sam telling us how fucking great he was?

No -it's safe to read

Allardyce indeed was great at Bolton, top of the Prem and in Europe. And as soon as he left Bolton went down, down, down. Let THAT sink in.

Read it

That was lovely.

Simply brillaint

no club has come close to achieving what we did (apart from your top 6)

We were unlucky that it coincided with two very good teams at united and arsenal. Could have pulled off a Leicester. Doesn't seem real looking back.

And Chelsea thinking about it

In fact I've just looked at the table. There was some cracking teams then incredible we were up there.

Such a special time to be a Wanderer. I’ll never forget it. Thank you for posting

Good read, no mention of Anelka??

Read this yesterday with my one year old son playing on the carpet in front of me. Whilst it's great to think back to those days, it's a shame he will probably never see anything even close to what we were lucky enough to see.

Good God

We went from scarborough to Bayern Munich in 20 years

Don't be so defeatist and dream a bit

Aye. It probably won't happen but without a dream, there's not really much point

Agree

No reason we can't get promoted again further down the line

And if we do, no reason we can't get in Europe again

As shown by the fact we've already done it, twice

I remember thinking when we got anelka that it was a shame nikata left as i thought nikata could of threaded balls through to

him a lot better than what we had during the anelka couple of years.

Oh well memory is a funny thing :)

I was more disappointed we didn't have hundreds of Japs turn up each game

Fulham pretty much had half of stand for all the ones who came to watch inamoto (well they did when we played them)

As for threaded through balls, see Campo for his 2nd goal v Arsenal
