Did a half marathon friday night and was 16 minutes quicker than the one i did a few weeks ago. admittedly it was the reverse route so removed the mind numbing last 4 miles on the front into wind which breaks me.

Did a 5km loop of the apartment block last night as well.....about 20 laps i think it was. boring as fuck but faster than i have gone all year. defo going to have to address the diet to improve times now though.

Can you still get marathons? I thought they were called Snickers now

I’m really getting in to Caramel Wacko’s from Aldi at the minute. Miles better than actual Rocky’s.

seems you can't get kettlebells anywhere for love nor money

well, I say that

someone is selling them at £99 a pop and I've not offered anyone love yet

but it's proving to be difficult

put bags of sugar in a plastic bag and swing that about, pretty much the same thing mate

My kick bag still not arrived. Will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I ordered it.
RDX Sports in Bury. They are getting slaughtered on Trustpilot.
Finally got some kind of apology over the weekend. And another “it should be with you soon”. But they’ve now also said they’ll refund 15%.
Coincidentally the item I ordered has shot up in price since.

Wheres it coming from

If its china, not sure therell be much they can do

Not very free though.

i did a 35 min one which was free, i was fucked after it

My 6 year old dragged me out for a run today. First of the year (and most of last year). Straight in to week 5 of couch to 5k. 3x 5 min runs with 3 mins walk inbetween

Round middlebrook and the stadium.

He was shagged by the end of it but his reduced pace gave me an excuse to take it easy! 🤣

Ive fuck all exvuse not to do c25k

Otger than being lazy as fuck

No way i could go straight in at week5

Does that not give you a 20 minute run on run number 3

Or is that week 6

Yeah it is!

Don't think I'll be doing week 5 run 2 with the lad... Might re run the first again.

A total of 18.6 miles I ran today. Feel pretty good after it.

Bradshaw cricket club has become something of an exercise yard at the moment.

Keith Hill is down almost every day with his little lad,  Julian Darby occasionally and yesterday Harry Brockbank and (at a different time) a young Wigan player and his sister who is an England netball player doing  some 5km challenge.

It must be something organised because the Wigan player lost out to Brockbank by 4 secs and they each had electronic devices feeding info back to trainers. Perhaps @Rudy’s Message will know.

The netball player was about 6' tall and fucking gorgeous. Not a clue HBHTW because I couldn't stare too much, wife was with me.

Yeah it’s pretty standard equipment now.

You can track everything with the right bit of kit. On a match day my job is analysis from the stands. I’ll track all players, check their sprints, movements, distance, Ive got software that’ll tell me where space is and isn’t being used. My partner is down on the bench and he’ll feed it back to the staff and players.
I’ll get sent requests to look at certain plays and passages of play and be asked for my input. Then subs are made and tactics are changed.

Ive spent the last 6 months using new software that analyses the opposition. So say for example I’ll be able to look at an opposition Right back I can track his movements. Speed and positioning I can see his patterns of where he moves depending on how the game is going, every player on the opposition will be tracked with hundreds of cameras. I’ll have two monitors in front of me and I can track everyone on the pitch and feed it back within seconds.
It’s a similar software that teams in the NFL has just started to use, in particular the Kansas City Chiefs who coincidentally won this years Super Bowl.

It’s an absolute game changer and City own and develop the software. When I presented it to the powers that be they were absolutely giddy and why I got got picked up by St George’s Park.

Won't all them onions make a mess of the wicket?

  • 2 weeks later...

11th consecutive day of running. 5 of those over 6.5 miles. Building myself up for a half marathon in the next week or so.

Contemplating the 5-a-day in May runfest. Not sure whether to do it in miles or km!

Kickbag arrived after 4 weeks. Kicked the shit out of it on day 1. Snapped the hook it was on. And bruised both feet (really poor form - should be kicking with shins only) and did my injured/bruised right shin no favours (got attacked by a dog a few days earlier and came flying off my bike).

Also got invited to a running group on Facebook that appears to be mostly dominated by young US honeys!! Can’t complain. Lots of selfies keeping an old man content!

i got a bike last week, done 3 20 mile rides on it so far and 10 miles to bring it home

strava tells me 1200 cals burnt doing the 20 mile rides, i'm not so sure
