Who you want to see sign. (Realistically)

I’d take Ched Evans, Wheater,  Gaz O’Neil. Clough.

11 players that put a decent shift in at Wycombe and are ALL proud to wear the shirt and that all supporters feel proud that they have tried their best will do me.

I'd take that Mayor from Bury if he's still available on a free and any others with a div1 div2 pedigree. Ben Pringle, Ched Evans. Pity we've missed out on Josh Morris and James Vaughan

I think Clough returning is nailed on if Parky leaves.

I'd sign Brockbank and Darcy up. I've barely seen either of them play but they're supposedly quite highly rated and I'd rather not lose anymore Academy graduates for a pittance.

I'd have Connolly back as well, and I'd try to steal Mayor from Bury before anyone else does. Failing that, I can't claim to know anything about players at this level so fuck knows.

Connolly's nowt special but he's got bottle, so be pleased enough with him

Did Williams do enough to suggest he's worth a second tier club...if not, him as well

Wheater...can see arguments both ways bit that strike leaves a bitter taste

Anyway, without a goalscorer, we are going down

So that's job number one

Madine on loan

I'd take a gamble on Devante Rodney, but as we can't sign anyone it's irrelevant

We can sign anyone we like. We just can't pay a fee

I'm not sure that's right.

It's righter than 'we can't sign anyone'!

A. Trialist, and lots of him!

Agree with Marple though, a bunch of serious and proud pros who'll hopefully help start this healing process that's going to take a generation.

Wheater it is, then.

He was joint leading scorer in our last campaign at this level.

We just need a new Morais to go with him.

I do think with some decent service magennis could hit 15-20 goals

Kellys heroes.

Begged, borrowed and stolen....

Dogs of war effort...

Agree with @marple whites

We've not seemed to have a goalscorer in years. I was on our season history at some point a while ago and looked at Leeds to compare.

Our top scorer since going down has

12, 9, 8, 7, 10, 10, 7. One of those being a league 1 season.

Leeds in that time

19, 29, 10, 13, 30, 14, 15.

I'm sure there are others more similar, but there must be something in our recruitment/ style or something that we have never had a big scorer.

^ what were the total league goals tally for each side in those seasons?

Nowt wrong with goals being shared around the team than through one main striker but I suspect our total goals have been lower every year too.  Every season under Parky we've made scoring and even creating chances look bloody difficult!

I think it's just that top quality goalscorers are expensive and we've not had enough money to buy one (except maybe the first season after we got relegated).

57, 59, 50, 50, 61, 59, 73

Actually interesting/ surprising. Aside from the years we went down/ almost, we outscored them overall.

I think you're probably right, all of our attempts to find the next hidden gem on a budget haven't been successful either. Think sometimes a team just seem to fit a striker, hopefully we can get that with someone next season.

I just want lads to come in with their eyes wide open to our situation and be prepared to graft every single game. The rest will fall in to place after that.

This.

Tommy Rowe would've been perfect for us. He's good mates with ALF and spoke highly of the club. Good record at this level, versatile, leader, local lad and puts a shift in.

I'd do a massive trial of players because we need numbers, say every released championship player that hasn't found a club by now and then try and pick the best ones. Maybe do a wider search to include the Spanish, German, Italian and French 2nd divisions.

Get the academy lads back Darcy, Duke, Navarro and Brockbank.

L1 isn't a high level especially below the top 5/6.

The worst thing we could do is spend transfer money on players, because chances are they wouldn't be good enough to make the step up, when we get promoted.

Guess it all depends on the ambition of the new ownership. I think we can aim for the playoffs, maybe higher, if they do the above.

We can't spend any money on transfers.

Play offs or higher? I love your optimism but I fear it's wildly misplaced.  We're going to be fishing for free transfers and uncontracted players who haven't already been picked up. Those who can afford to be choosy aren't going to see us as an attractive proposition.

This keeps being repeated by people, but I've seen no evidence that it's true.

I don't agree, it's about having a manager who thinks a goalscorer is an integral part of the team. ALF and Oz  are the obvious examples, but how many others strikers like those picked up by Wigan, bury, Fleetwood etc woukd have signed for us if we had actually wanted them instead of Donaldson or Wilbraham? And how about occasionally, just occasionally, signing a midfielder that us capable of shooting? And we wonder why we can go a whole month without a shot on target.
