Didn’t realise the olympics was in Tokyo. Presuming it’s made it’s way over that way already?

Yeah that cruise ship is just down the road from Tokyo

It’s a biological weapon. Chinese created it and it’s got out of hand and now trying to cover it up

numbers being reported in China are a fraction of what is really happening if some sources are to be believed

Running out of space, medicines etc. Definitely a massive issue.

A biological weapon that probably takes 2 weeks to kill less than 2% of those it infects,  is particularly good at killing off old people or those with an underlying disease, and has a high rate of infection, so likely to spread round the whole world back to the country who used it? Doesn't sound like a very effective weapon to me.

yeah - SARS and MERS viruses already exist. MERS kills 35% of those it infects and has a low transmission rate so wouldn't come back to your own shores - why would someone try to make a weapon that makes most people have mild flu effects , when you could get the same symptoms from watching Tranmere

It’s not finished it would appear in terms of development. I read that the virus is genetically modified and has a specific signature within its make up that shows it is man made. Maybe just a conspiracy theory but several articles on it.

also does it need to kill everyone to be considered a weapon? I think not. It would if released in a country cause a huge emergency and disrupt a country massively.

also could it be used to “thin out” an ageing population possibly? and get rid of the coffin dodgers

How was it put out there?

Injection into bats and other food sources at the market?

This has got contrail conspiracy all over it.

Not seen how it got out pal. Some people saying it has got out by accident and wasn’t to be released and now they are covering it up. I’ve “seen” videos of corridors and warehouses full of Supposed bodies in bags lying about as the actual numbers are huge and much much greater than those being reported and there is a real panic to keep it under wraps it’s that bad because of the fact it is man made

is any of it true? I don’t know. But does it sound  more likely than one person getting it from eating a bat or something? Let you decide

Kinell.

If there is anything remotely true about this, then the government needs to step up policies with regard to repatriation of citizens.

If there are 10000 still out there, then it would be almost impossible to quarantine that many!

Need to either get back soon for "monitoring" or risk having to leave some there. :(

A coffin dodger euthanasia weapon, possibly - I'm sure time will tell, but when designing a weapon it would be a massive balls up to make a virus that has a transmission rate of over 1, because it would inevitably find its way back to your own country without a lot of intervention and disruption.

I'm sure the figures from inside China aren't to be trusted at the moment, however outside of China, the current mortality rate is 0.8 of confirmed cases, (2 deaths out of 243 confirmed cases - a guy from Hong Kong who had underlying health issues and a guy from Wuhan who died in the Philippines).

It is likely that the number of confirmed cases is under reported at the moment, and of the confirmed cases, many haven't recovered yet, so the figures aren't accurate, but all indications looks like it will fall to below 2%.

2% is still a high number, but it's not going to infect every person in the world, there will be many unrecorded asymptomatic cases, where the immune systems of the patient fights of the virus before any symptoms are shown, and improved hand washing, and quarantines etc will slow down the current transmission rate.

It's pertinent to mention that its not unusual for over 600k deaths per year from seasonal flu

Have you ever been to china - they eat everything.

Having a chew on a snake or a giant slug is a normal for them - they keep live animals in buckets and cages next to each other in some markets, restaurants and houses, before they slaughter them to eat.

Not disputing that they eat like beasts. Been to China and seen it first hand

im just of the opinion that for This to stem from one person catching this from one bat seems rather odd and statistically improbable

My Mrs came back from there a few months ago, bought me back the local delicacy, a bag of barbecued duck necks - tasted like finger nails.

The viruses mutate constantly, so its likely that this virus has been exposed to humans many times before, but hadn't mutated in a way that enabled it to get inside human cells until now.

All the forms of flu that humans can catch have been traced back to jumping from animals - they reckon we didn't have flu until we started domesticating animals 10,000 years ago.
