Current levels are 'Worse than the worst case scenario' according to the beeb.

Bolton now moved up to 7th in the table of most cases in the country. Up from 9th. The supposed Tier 4 is looking more likely around these parts.

However, he added that tier three restrictions are unlikely to bring the R number below 1.0 and that "we might need to take more action on a national scale".

And we might not

Genuine question - do you think we should just lift all restrictions and go down the Sweden route ?

This morning they said the R in London was well over 2. (2.86?)

I reckon we've got a couple of weeks or so to demonstrate that tier 3 is starting to show a slowing in infection up here, and whatever tiers are being used down there to do similar.

The restrictions are bollocks.

This is not a lockdown of any sort.

Spoke to a customer in Bradford today and he said “I don’t drink, I don’t go in pubs, this tier 3 makes non difference to my life whatsoever”

Hard to disagree.

Just shutting pubs does fuck all.

Either go big and do what we did in March or just accept that we won’t keep it from spreading everywhere by xmas

I’ve been listening to the pros and cons about this all week and still unsure.

How did Belarus and Brazil fair? They were the other 2 countries weren’t they who followed Sweden

Starting to see more and more suggestions that herd immunity isn't possible

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8889269/amp/Russian-professor-69-infected-Covid-19-twice-says-herd-immunity-impossible.html.

And the Swedish guy agrees

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/coronavirus-herd-immunity-sweden-covid-cases-anders-tegnell-b1421541.html%3famp

And that article says Sweden did a lockdown last week

Seems to me that this halfway house does fuck all useful.

Either let it do its thing and channel all the money at the NHS, or weld everyone’s door shut.

This dithering doesn’t work.

No.

There are some restrictions in Sweden, mind.

Whilst I disagree with the Govts current strategy, it is, I think, a valid attempt at a middle way, trying to keep businesses open at the same time looking to supress infections.

It really would be balmy to lockdown the economy in areas of low infection, so it must be otherwise motivated.

The scientists and WHO aren't saying lockdown, but, it seems the media are. Weird.

Brazil have the second highest number of deaths

Looking at the graph they're are still in the middle of wave one

Belarus probably haven't even noticed

Interesting article in the FT, that this phase is due  to the virus mutating.

The lady that discovered our strain was on the box earlier. It developed in an outbreak on a farm in Spain, and essentially became Europe's predominant one. No more or less infectious or dangerous than other strains though.

No reason why it shouldn't work in keeping the virus to a manageable level. Obviously, with more places open, you'll get some cases. However just seeing anecdotes on here, its clear that much isn't being adhered to.

I've noticed that giving false information to t&t or not isolating as required is to become a criminal offence in Wales. Must admit, I'd assumed it already was everywhere!

Its not just here though- civil disobedience is France for example because they don't want a lockdown.

Like a Quatermass story.

Point is, there's no guarantee that you can't become ill again, which means outbreaks may still be possible.

Big British study showed more about this.

That's true but it's the same as any illness.. the difference is that second time round in theory, you will not have it for anywhere near as long.

Saying this to Mrs Swanny last night, there's a chance when I felt drained about 2 weeks ago I could have caught it again, although I didn't have any symptoms aside from aching all over.

Which is true - but them antibodies don't half help. Especially if you're old or poorly and your B and T cells are fooked!

Aye granted it's better to have them armed and ready, I do remember reading years ago that natural created antibodies are more effective than vaccines?

Over 1 million confirmed cases now, so there will be plenty who have it, that's not including all the ones who have not been tested and asymptomatic,
