I had regular chemo sessions (every 2 weeks at first then 3 weekly) from March until October at Salford Royal, no delays or hint of cancelling it

Yeah. Some hospitals have the capability. Bigger places like Salford Royal are fine. It’s a struggle for the smaller hospitals like Oldham, Bury, and the like. Other side of the company that I work for deals with chemo. Sales have gone through the floor. Like I say it’s a choice that the hospitals have to make. Bring vulnerable patients in and they catch Covid and they are panned. Cancel chemo because of the risk and they get panned. They can’t win. It’s horrendous for all

Edit: Hope all is going well for you. Really feel for folk like you at this time 👍

Just been looking on our local GP website.

10th of December they said they'd be getting in touch with those over 80 to arrange vaccinations. Just looked again and they are staring on the 9th Jan.

Taken a month. Hardly a sense of urgency. Bit dogshite really.

Just don't think there's enough of this Pfizer one.

I also know of one who's heard nothing.

Hopefully this will change now AZ is available.

Aye, makes sense

That's maybe why it's kicking in from 9th Jan?

The problem is that the Pfizer vac is very complicated

Most GPS aren't able/willing, for a variety of reasons, to administer it

Its not the govts fault, nor is it the NHS

The Unions trying to close schools again

Yep. Just got off the phone to my mum. She’s approaching 84. Was told by Waters Meeting that she would be priority but heard nowt since

You’ll no better than me but I assume it’s the storage, the preparation, then having it all lined up ready to go. And then assuming that folk turn up when required? And if it doesn’t happen right the GP’s get pasted for it

Too much to go wrong? AZ one looks a lot simpler imo

To be fair, they are right on this occasion. Come on, just get the fucker under control for another week or two surely?

For me, it’s political

Keep the schools closed, get this years exams cancelled, parents having to stay at home, more uncertainty, undermine the Government.

The usual playbook

Conversely I was booked in the Christie at Wigan for a PET scan last Monday, when I got there they said they couldn't do it and would rearrange for me which incidentally is next Tuesday, this scan will tell me whether I'm all clear or not so I was hoping for a good Christmas present

Sounds like our bureaucracy is getting in the way

Let's have a referendum to leave the UK - free us from the shackles of a dictatorship of faceless elected Westminster bureaucrats...

Which is fair enough and quite right . Not sure some of training/approvals are necessary though.

Conflict resolution? Bonkers.

In most public service roles you will regularly encounter total bellends who are often on the verge of, if not actually - violent/confrontational.

The recipient of this treatment will react in a spectrum of ways - from being extremely intimidated/scared to be weighing up when and how they're going to muller them (the bellend).

Conflict resolution training does help. It's done and dusted in a long morning...

Half of compulsory training is due to compo culture/liability issues - not some 'bureaucrat' dreaming up ways to waste time and resources.

By 'they' do you mean Detective Billy Rosewood? 😀

I've worked on the front line in public sector. I had no training, other than a gaffer saying dont get involved. Fuck that.

We're in a pandemic, with folk needing a simple jab. If they kick off, get security to wazz them out. Overthinking at times.
