Yep had moviprep myself let’s just say it well and truly clears the pipes

Worst thing for me was when they wheeled me in to the room and the fireman’s hose was coiled up in the corner. I laughed thinking it was a wind up til she started to uncoil it. Meters long

The last one I had, was a smaller dose and tasted a little better, not a lot but better, but not having to drink 2L of the shit helped

I've enjoyed a few colonic irrigations in my time

That's when you get to watch all the unfiltered food bits come out

I can usually see that most days anyway

Think I opted for the flavoured one but it was still rank when the Mrs said you need to drink 2l I thought it was a fucking joke

They told me to lie down - which I did, but the wrong way round! Did get a laugh all round when I suggested they would check me tonsils out instead.

I wasn't laughing a few minutes later. From what I hear the full "re-bore" is less painful as they give you a sedative? The pain actually comes from the fact they fire gas in to expand things.

Not fun. But when you're offered it, do it! Things they excised turned out to not be dangerous - yet. But as the surgeon said, give 'em another 10 years and that wouldn't be the case...

And i declined the offer to watch it on the screen in real time 😲

Yes I got a sedative. I remember being wheeled in and the fear and then next thing I was watching the camera on the screen and it was snipping bits of my insides away for biopsy. I asked her how long it would take. She said another 2 mins you’ve been in for 40odd already. Completely away with it I was. No recollection.
Good shit clearly.

@jules_darbydont fall into the trap of believing if you eat less the day before it means less comes out. You could go on hunger strike and gallons of the stuff will still pour out once that stuff gets ingested.

That’s exactly what I was hoping 😫

All primary schools shut in London.

wifes still awaiting details about how they tackle this mass testing business too,

sounds a bit messy

School staff administering the tests.

Government still have no sent details on how schools will do it. Which us probably why the reopening has been pushed back..

Can't see schools reopening till mid Feb tbh.

Got a message from LL yesterday.

Plan laid out, with dates and year groups etc.

Even a close contact of a positive case will be allowed in so long as they have repeated test for 5 days.

Had to 'sign' an agreement, and just awaiting finalised details.

Can't fault em at all.

Whether the reality is the same, guess we'll see.

Yes, the staff are doing it, meant more like what you mentioned the guidance about how it will be done, there is a half hour wait after the test I believe so where do they all get held and how much does it all take off the timetable, how many staff will make themselves available, what if students refuse a test, what training do the staff require.

I had the endoscopy followed by the colonoscopy, I remember the former being bad because I was gagging until the tubes were in the right place in my throat, the endoscopy, I remembered quite a bit of poking around in my internals, not the best experience on both counts, but no worse than a vasectomy! Fortunately everything came back fine and that sachet stuff is fooking lethal, just make sure you're near a toilet at all times.

Friend of a friend had suspected cancer in march but cos of covid it all got put on hold.

Finally got in end of Nov; results came back mid December that it was cancer and it had spread but would start chemo etc. He went for an MRI weds...they called him first thing Thursday morning saying you need to come for emergency chemo in preston now & they've given him 3 weeks to live.

He’s only 46 and has two children in year 7 and 8.

I said ages ago there would be loads of this as per Prof Sikora’s protests and was put down by Peely etc who said he had skin in the game...

I fear that there’s going to be so much of this over the next few months / couple of years...they’re more a victim of covid than many that have died “with covid”.

Heart breaking and frustrating as hell

Really sorry to hear that Jules. Much as I tend to ignore what Sikora has to say, due to his conflicts of interest, he is correct, as are you, that there will be many folk who have died,, and who will die, due to being a victim of Covid

That is awful. My BiL found out he had cancer in May and despite Covid he has had radiotherapy and chemotherapy with no real delays. There is no justification to put cancer treatments on hold.

Unfortunately, the NHS is really caught between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one, and there are justifications, depending on what cancer you have

Bloke who works for me had colon cancer years ago. Had some symptoms again a few months ago and has just completed 4 courses of chemo tablets. All taken at home in a safe environment

MiL had chemo for multiple myeloma on and off for 10 years but this was done via an infusion through a port in her shoulder. No way could that be done at home. This required a full day sat in Royal Oldham Hospital. She was due to start again early 2020 but the consultant said that it was too risky to have her in the hospital. No idea if you know but chemo obliterates your immune system. You have no response to infection and viruses basically. Hospitals are the best place in the world to pick anything up. Anyway, I won’t repeat the whole story again but she was admitted with pneumonia, caught Covid on the ward and was gone in less than a week

My point basically is it’s probably better to do without the chemo and not catch Covid and I totally understand why some hospitals take that stance. But it’s fucking horrendous for patients and families. I get that totally

I have to have endoscopies every 2 years as I have Barrett’s Oesophagus

hopefully for me it the end of endoscopies, but it the down side his I've got to take a tablet everyday for the rest of my life to stop the ulcers retuning, small price to pay I think, as the 2nd time I didn't even know I had them because Id had no pain, seems I was self Anesthetizing, so it could have turned out real bad
