That was one of the loveliest things to ever happen. Stood in my garden sobbing like a baby! Proud to work for the NHS 👏👏👏👏❤️

I can always move some where where the majority of the population agree with me.

But you’ve just gone through so much to get what you wanted here. Milk, honey etc...

This bleating is most unbecoming of you. Suck it up, as they say.

Would you visit Spain if their infection level is higher and vaccination rate is lower than ours ? Significantly not saying we have vaccinated 75% and them 74%. For example .

Yes. I’m not at risk, I’m testing on my return. There is fuck all risk of me dying or passing it on. Some folk happy to risk a packed beach in Bournemouth I’ll take my chance round a swimming pool in Spain with just my family.

And presumably ignore the 6pm curfew over there ?

Again you've got it the wrong way round. Lockdown has reduced cases and thus allowing the nhs to get back to more routine duties. However you keep saying the opposite.

No one has said keep a lockdown going neither. Just stop travel abroad for a whilewhich allows us here to open up internally.

The article in Iceland I referred to illustrates precisely this. Almost zero cases and an open society. Economically a no brainer.

Clearly our situation is different to theirs, and its not likely that we could isolate all positive cases in a hotel, should we have free travel arrangements. Therefore a reduction in travel freedoms is common sense.

The vaccine prevents and significantly reduces hospitalisation, you had a point before vaccination but lockdown isn’t necessary anymore to reduce hospitalisation.

It’ll be 12 by July.

Trust me I’ll be there.

I hope you are, but if the flights are pulled it might prove bit tricky. Anyway, you don't go until July, so fingers crossed for you that things are OK for travel by then

For the record, I'm hoping to get to Mallorca in July too.

But what will be will be.

The Europeans need to get on top of it.

The alternative is lock down forever. Folk dying from cancer, suicide, and other avoidable diseases, sooner folk realise it ain’t going away and folk will continue to die of one thing or the other, treat it same as flu and let’s crack on. I’m more than prepared to take that risk than live in constant limbo.

it's not lockdown forever, it's currently 21st June as things tand

you also, like me, thought there was potential for another wave and spike when they sent the kids back to school with loads still to vaccine, so you must've seen sense in lockdown around 1 month ago

what's changed?

The speed of vaccination is a game changer, the schools for me should have remained closed until after Easter, I felt that most parents were under 50 and hadn’t been vaccinated and although very little risk of serious infection might have increased infection rates in that group and the extra month would have helped get more under 50s vaccinated.  My view is countries with much higher infection rates than U.K. should be kept on the red list, while other less infected countries should be open for tourism as long as enforced testing both ways is a legal requirement of travel.  As an aside this is nice link to assess risk of dying from Covid.

In terms of going or not going?

You have access to a certain amount of information to base your decision on. The Govt have a lot more.

This a Tory libertarian Govt. who are placing these restrictions on us. They say to stop the potential third wave. You say it is OTT.

Why do you think they are putting these restrictions in place ?

Infection levels. What number would you say it has to be at before you decide not to go?

I think you're all being a bit harsh on Mounts. Those egg and chips aren't going to eat themselves.

It’s what you deem acceptable, I don’t deem the ongoing restrictions acceptable, you do and that’s fine, I’m happy to abide by testing, vaccines and distancing the chance of me dying is now virtually unmeasurable so I’d like to take my chance and have my freedom back thx.

The chance of you dying remains at 100%
😀

No chance of Covid killing me though. 👍

Because they think we are all fuckwits and can’t act responsibly. Nanny fucking state, and I want no part of it. I’ll be fine, I’m flying whatever the restrictions they enforce if I decide it safe for me & my family. You can all hide behind your settees I’ll get on with my life.

If restrictions still exist then ( which I doubt) I’ll just say I’m selling my property, I’m not,  but they don’t know that. Apparently that’s a bonafide reason to travel.

not if the airlines don't fly you won't - as I said earlier, hopefully it'll be OK by July when you go, but it's certainly not the given that you seem to think it is, I don't think
