Said yesterday that Boris may just be keeping people on their toes as we stagger over the deadline dates.

But - and we’ve been here enough times now to spot the patterns - this government are repeat offenders for u-turns at the last minute. Given the seeds of doubt being sown it’s difficult not to think that they’re preparing the nation for more shit.

I don't think anyone will be massively surprised if May 17th gets pushed back.
We just don't need the media going on about it every day, there's so much negativity, it's tiresome.

There is no reason for a blanket ban on travel, red list anywhere Covid rates are high, test & release folk on return, it’s all about control and if it continues they’ll be serious consequences, our freedoms are being eroded by a Tory government which is the exact opposite to what they stand for.  If these freedoms are not returned soon I’m seriously thinking of getting out of the U.K. on a full time basis.

Mounts in some ways I agree with you. But and it’s a big but, people cannot be trusted when they get home. It’s sad but it’s very true. For that reason sadly this has to be the case for a while longer

I’m a libertarian too, but even I can see that we need to be careful with our borders, for the time being. I think that most people who might want to go abroad would feel the same.

My sister flew from Palma to Barcelona last week for a short break with my niece.

Theres a 6pm curfew in place in Barca so she spent the days sightseeing and having socially distanced food and drinks. Said it was delightful as the city was so quiet.

But if you’re out and about after 6pm you are being stopped and fined if you have no good reason to be.

Spain is still gearing up for tourism to start properly in June, but they’re really worried.

It’s up to the government to ensure everyone who boards a flight has a paid for booked test on return, to shut down the travel industry & deny folk there freedom is wrong on so many levels, in my opinion it is not acceptable, stop flights to and from red list countries where rates are high, enforce testing on return to the U.K. the rest of these restrictions are an unjustified impingement on our liberties & freedoms and are unacceptable.

Just think how much easier that would have been a couple of years ago eh?

I take it you are worried that this will effect you

Indeed, because too many of them will deem it ok to ignore the rules and use their own 'common sense' instead.

I can pay for ten tests today. Doesn’t mean I’m going to turn up. Many People will see it simply as a surcharge on their holiday and go about normal business until the date of their test. You know this and so do I. I want to go on holiday as much as you do. I’m guessing many off here do as well. But we aren’t the issue. We (in the main) never have Been the issue. You must see this. We are a nation of retards

It won’t effect me I’ll be in Spain, but still strongly disagree with our government and with lack of freedoms when simple measures can reduce risk to negligible levels, allow travel and save an industry that has been shat on.

This is exactly the problem.

You’re basically asking thousands - perhaps tens of thousands - to isolate on return.

They won’t do it.

Some will, of course. But that lad who’s been Covid denying for over a year lands back and goes straight to his local. He’s riddled with it. Spreads, hotspot yadda yadda we know the rest...

@Zicowhat you saying to it? 😎

But you’ll be coming back.

The longer you’re there the more chance of catching it if Spain is struggling to vaccinate everyone.

You don’t get it.

It ain’t rocket science, failure to turn up should be reported and fines issued, think 1k fine would suffice and concentrate minds.

it is a simple measure , you don't fly ... now much simple is that

It’s the period in between as well. A lot of folk will just carry on regardless. That’s the risk and I’m sorry pal but you know this as well

You can test to prove you ain’t got it. The government can pass a law to make sure you take the test or face a heavy fine. It’s not to difficult to plot a sensible way through this and allow folk to have basic freedoms.

I tell you a good way to help the hotel industry, two weeks in Spain ... 10 days in a hotel at your expanse ( like New Zealand does) when you get back and you are free to go for a bit of sun

You're assuming everyone will behave like you. They won't.

Hundreds of thousands of people returning from dozens of countries struggling to cope with the virus and vaccine.

Inevitably plenty will just end up bringing it back, plenty will slip the net.

I'd love to bash Boris, but we just can't have another lockdown.

We've thousands of beaches in the UK, be reet for one more year.

It is not a valid reason to kill an industry and restrict freedoms carte blanche, folk drink and drive but drinking isn’t banned, this is all about control and folk are just swallowing it.

I don’t need you to tell me fuck all, I do the test & release as per regulations.
