I do think it's a massive waste of time and money though I understand, but the data is showing us the effectiveness of the vaccination programme. As you say, probably way over the top. The vaccine is nailing it.

It’s pretty clear lockdowns work as well. Impossible to split out the data currently. no doubt in my mind the vaccination programme is a roaring success and is our route out of this. But the science now just needs to seal that envelope. Which when lockdown is removed as a tool is what we shall get.

This lockdown hasn’t been much of a lockdown (in England), it’s been much busier than earlier versions 2. The Kent variant was rampant during the November/December lockdown but we’ll see, I’m not going to argue, esp with you!

Jan and Feb were as locked down as the first one, ie schools shut, non essential shut etc Kent was in tier 2 in November, London up to mid December, everyone was out shopping and supping, that definitely wasn't lock down

stevieb
There's some cracks showing on here... Think the penny is finally dropping that this is a fucking scam! Get 2 jabs but still wear a mask Get tested twice a week but you still can't go anywhere. Can't go on holiday but our borders are still open. Softly softly approach to lifting restrictions... We'll have a week of everything open before next winters 'variant' locks us all down until we have to get another booster vaccine. It's fucking bullshit! Half the folks at risk of getting dead either got dead or are now double jabbed. Lockdown was supposed to flatten the curve so the NHS doesn't collapse. That's not a risk anymore is it? Given that me, the missus and especially my Dad are all considered 'higher risk' and haven't had our 2nd stabbing yet not sure on that one. My dad will be double jabbed by the 12th so im quite happy to stick with the proposed timetable for loosening of restrictions. It's shit but i look at the lfe my brother is leading in Sydney following them taking decisive action a year ago and I want us over here to stay the course to ensure the numbers don't shoot back up. Sweep
Boris just said that it looks like we won't have to deviate from the "road map" moving forward. I think that pretty much means there is fuck all chance that any of it will be pulled forward, as some had been hoping for

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 5, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 5, 2021 Third lockdown more stringent than second. Schools closing made a big difference. Subtle differences from the first but generally similar.
Site Supporter Spider Posted April 5, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 5, 2021 Being ultra cautious shouldn’t really be criticised. They are, it seems, getting everything right this time. I love to criticise them, but can’t on this. Thumbs up from me.
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 5, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted April 5, 2021 A sense of perspective too. Europe struggling and we are still managing to get things down, despite a gradual re-opening.
