Everyone knows someone it’s helping. But this protection is under threat. The Chancellor said this morning he wants to “wind down the scheme” while another senior Conservative has insultingly suggested that people are “too willing to stay at home”. That senior Conservative sounds like a cunt. What % of people on furlough had any choice in the matter? People who were told explicitly to stay at home and not work have been staying at home and not working. Shocker. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 On furlough from Wednesday, 87% of my overall wage and by stopping my pension and my travel card cancelled I'm not losing too much - glad I got a payrise in April! The main thing is getting us projects to work on going forwards. Quote

stevieb Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Past June I'd imagine the only people on furlough should be those shielding / parents with no childcare alternatives and that's it. Back to normal as much as possible. You'd had your fun. Time to give the liver a rest! Quote

Probably loads more! Part time might be of interest to me if childcare provisions are fucked til September. I'd have took that from day 1 if I'd have had the chance to rotate childcare with the Mrs. Quote

He was cracking up said to the boss he couldn’t wait to get back to work. Wanted to be “the first one back in the office”. His missus eventually took furlough so look after the kids. we are making plans to get folk back into the office and now he suddenly can’t come back due to childcare issues. He’s rightly been pulled up on this and a word had in his ear about taking the piss. Wonder how many other folk will be trying this one. Quote
Not in Crawley Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Be interesting regarding if there are sector differences for live events, hospitality etc We'll see what happens after June - most of my clients have postponed until Spring next year, which means activity starting in autumn. Quote

I spoke to our school today and they said they are working out how it would be possible to return mid July for year 2. I'm still concerned about out of school cover over summer hols Quote
radcliffe white Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 be interesting to see what happens regarding holiday accrual Quote

I'd love to be back in the office but my Mrs would lose her fucking mind if she had to deal with both kids all day until September. During 6 week hols we still send little en into nursery. Quote

My bosses issue is that he couldn’t wait to get back to work when his wife was at work now she’s off and effectively looking after the kids he doesn’t want to return. although I guess it is possible that simply neither can cope on their own and he’s needed at home. Never thought of it like that Quote

(assuming Jan-Dec holidays) - that's ace! Quote

If they are furloughed for any longer they will be made to use more of their entitlement. Quote
