  • Other benefits aren’t affected I think pal.    My place are saying to folk we will pay you the extra 20% if you burn a weeks holiday which is fair enough I think and gives folk the choice then

  • Can I request it because trying to work from home with 2 kids is giving me a stress induced heart attack!

  • Jesus Take the 80% and be fucking grateful that the system we pay into is coming to the party. It's not like we've all got weekends out/holidays/anything at all extra to pay for. It'll cover

Assume accrued holidays paid in full and redundancy up to the weekly statutory maximum?

If you're going to get shut of anyone right now, I'd not be wanting to cut corners. Full payoff, and signed paperwork to make sure they know they can't come back at you.

Makes a big difference in quality of life I reckon.

Fucking about for 2-3 hours a day did my swede in.

My head office and studio is in North Wales, going was generally ok coming home has been anything from 1.5 hours upwards coming back, getting home at 8 at times missed tea with the kids and going to the park and stuff, missed a load of night games, couldn’t train for sports or coach really did mess me up, done that for the past 8 years, apart from a spell weekly living in Bristol for a few years spent loads of time in the car. We’ve just opened a branch in a Manchester  in Agecroft which I’m heading up, the commute is 15 mins it’s a dream. Even considering a push iron to get fit again!

Not sure where you live exactly, but a push iron through Moses gate country park, nob end, canal etc through to Phillips park will bring you pretty much their.

Used that route a couple of times when I cycled into manc for work.

Be coming from the other way. Live in Heywood these days! So through Simister and through Drinkwater Park.

My biggest issue, was getting cleaned up once at work. I was fortunate as there was a top floor gym with showers.

For some reason the university closed it, which kyboshed that.

One of the best things the government could do, would be to provide financial assistance to companies for installation of shower/changing facilities on site.

Well, after what'll be 11 weeks, I'll be off furlough and back working on 6th July.

My employer (UK holiday industry) broke all historical records with sales yesterday.

Phew, that's a relief. Hopefully everyone else back to work as soon as possible too.

Today had the redundancy consultation call, CEO and COO made redundant yesterday.

Not been a great day all told.

Start of the process for us all but yeah. Because of the amount they are laying off it takes 30 days max.

Sorry to hear that NiC.

I returned to work (from home) this week. Out of our 700 employees across the country, 200 will be being made redundant. Our call centre and offices in East Lancs are being closed down permanently along with a few other sites in different parts of the country. I've been lucky and avoided the cull but as my place if work is no more I'll be working from home from now on.

I can see a lot of companies doing similar.

Really sorry to hear that fella, hope you get something sorted asap.

Sorry to hear that NiC, I have a horrible feeling we're about to start seeing a whole wave of redundancies across numerous sectors across the entire country. Our company, as things stand isn't going to make anybody redundant, but they seriously considering letting everybody stay working from home, which will need we don't need the office space that we currently have, so those buildings may well be going up for sale (which will be a challenge to get rid of them as well I'd have thought)  -  absolutely massive changes coming for the UK workforce over the next few weeks and months

Sorry to hear Crawley

Thanks all - crappy week. Essentially even through we were one of the most profitable parts of the business last year, its the world of large corporates. Our CEO submitted the plan to head office end of last week to remain most people on furlough until October, and with the bail out, whilst we wouldn't be seeing any of it, it would start to give more confidence to the sector and we can start on the spring products and openings.

Tuesday they rejected it, CEO gone same day, whole business wound up with a small amount of people absorbed into other parts that they might work in, also more Jr roles - cheaper.

I'm the group rep for the redundancy meeting on Wednesday (probably got voted as I sound most like a old school union rep 🙂 )

I re-joined this company after 4 years away - if id stayed would have been fine, but re-joined 2 and a half years ago. So get one a half weeks for every year worked with one week's notice.

So how do I pay my rent in two months? At this moment, absolutely no idea whatsoever. Bank's have been good and got a call with HSBC this week as they realise I won't be able to meet my commitments.

Old boss is updating re our clients, if we can take a couple might tide me over. Of our direct competitors they have all made huge cuts this month so at least there aren't other agencies out there, but to be honest happy to move sectors - happy to take anything at the moment.

Relegation, redundancy - 2020 total write off.

Sorry quick edit, I know I said thank but really, thanks - it kicks you in the teeth this, so it's really very much appreciated you vile, druggy thugs.

Really sorry again to hear that fella. If you don't get anything sorted please let me know as I've a few decent contacts done your way who could help you out for a while.......don't worry, you won't be on a roof, so you don't need to wash your keks just yet

Gutted for you mate.

I know you liked the job which makes it an even bigger blow.

If there’s any light, todays announcement coupled with no real sign of a second wave, and a nation desperate for entertainment, hopefully there’ll be plenty of enterprising souls who will need your skill set.

For now, have a beer, have a panic then come back fighting tomorrow you massive whining socialist snowflake commie cunt

Sounds like a real shitter. As mentioned earlier hopefully you can bounce back as the entertainment industry picks up again.

I really fear for a lot of firms that have fuck all in reserves when furlough starts winding down. Its going to be a bloodbath.

Aye

October and November could be dark months.

That said, as shite as Boris has been on the virus, the willingness to throw money at it all is fair enough. It’ll all need paying back eventually, but rather that than an all out depression.

I take zero pleasure in this. But when people were moaning about the governments lock down light and the deaths etc a couple of posters on here inc me tried to point out the hidden human cost in this. Well it’s starting now.
Imagine If we had locked down Earlier , fully and stayed locked down?? Where would we be now?

we are in for an almighty shitstorm and I hope NiC and everyone on here gets through it as well as we can.

@Not in Crawley we might be taking on some temps to help out and would be home based. If anything materializes I will let you know in case you are wanting something mate.

Hope you get sorted out NiC.

Only just seen this.

Bad shit, Crawley, pal. Whole sector is suffering. Hope you get fixed up soon. It's a double hit when it's something you enjoy doing. Losing a job is bad enough, but one you actually like...

Thanks all - I’m happy to do anything, so all offers greatfully revived. Happy to graft or do owt - Miami, if you know anyone, I’ll work hard and do what needs doing. Esco - again, any temp work happy to interview for.

again - thanks all, really appreciated.

I will give my boss a ring tomorrow. It won’t be highly paid but it will be paid which is the key and if we are hiring then I should be able to circumvent the process. Will drop you a message once I know the Craic.
