Mate of mine did dry Jan. He was off work today and put a picture of him supping San Migs on our group chat at 9.45 this morning. Fucking animal.

Now, I've never done a month off but how much must you need a beer to be cracking them on a Monday morning. Thought it was a bit strange tbh.

Just done a dry weekend.

Not been drinking through the week.

Toying with the idea of waiting until the pubs open.

2022 will soon be here

Managed dry February so far

It ends as soon as Rivvy start selling that Cloudwater colab online

Aye, been taking champix to quit smoking too, today was the quit day, had one before and it was utterly pointless, so they are working, along with the mental vivid dreams

Life without booze and smoking, in lockdown

I've been drinking fizzy water for 3 days straight and pretending it's Bud Light.

So far, I haven't noticed much difference except I'm pissing a lot less.

Gone without ale since NYD. First time I've ever tried dry January. Must be longest without ale since I was at school, left in 1984.....

TBH it's been easy as there's been no football to attend or pubs open. I massively over did it in lead up to Xmas & NY so my liver deserves a break....

Toying with staying off it until the cricket season starts (friendly on Apr 4th, league starts Apr 17th).

I'd suggest there wouldn't be many who've gone from 0-110mph, from sensible driver to maniac - and drank themselves to death within a year though.

Probably a mix of pre-existing condition folk; people with m.h.i. self-medicating, problem drinkers who've previously been limited by work being free to indulge more due to being let go or furloughed or even working from home (at least until smellovision hits zoom) etc.

No doubt this will open up the 'hammer booze with massive taxes' - which is just a really fucking sly disingenuous revenue raising exercise in reality.

People drinking themselves to death would find the money regardless, or cut their cloth to suit, drinking utter gutrot like strong cider or, even worse, illicit booze.

The one thing all governments have proved excellent at since the 70's is blaming the symptoms as the cause, in regard to excessive drinking and drug abuse.

In other news...

That Brewdog Lost Lager 'freebie' landed on Saturday.

It was alreet (only had one so far) for 50p per can - I've not really drank much during January so the single can, drank quickly, gave me a bit of a buzz, no complaints strength-wise, I might 'shotgun' the last three if the match goes ahead toneet.

Taste wise?

Tasted a bit like the old Kwiksave supermarket at the bottom of Churchgate.

Drank three times in Jan, finding the weeks are fine as there is nothing to do, no one to see and no where to go.

Friday nights after work I still like a beer, and we've got zoom cocktail hour at work this week. I'll need to drink to get through it.

It will be, I don't blame them for trying something. I've not been to one yet and I gave the 'Craftanoon' a massive swerve.

I know. But it is a visual arts place. We also get an art afternoon once a month. Didn't take mine for Jan, but its good when places are open as you get to see stuff, get paid and get the cash for any paid entry up to £200 a year.

For the sake of clarity, was the 'Craftanoon' everyone sat around drinking craft ale or was it more like a knitting circle ?
