BLM

How come there isn't a thread for this ?

Is it because they've revealed their true colours, excuse the deliberate pun.

Folk were warned re their true intentions, but as always called racist by the naive.

Some will probably say taking my seat later is racist no doubt

I reckon there were quite a few in there yesterday who don't give a fuck about black people. Plenty, in fact.

There are reasons to disagree with the taking of the knee. I agree with some of them. I don't think it's "educating" previously prejudiced people, I'm worried that it's heightening racial tensions/divisions, even if it's inadvertent, I think there will be booing at other clubs, etc.

But to pretend that what happened at Milwall yesterday was solely disagreement about political strategy is foolish.

Aye, sure there was

I’m recon quite a few of the thousands of players who have taken a knee share extremists views of some of the hard left element of BLM

As a spectrum, BLM seems to stretch from a simple anti racism message at one end to a more sinister political agenda at the other. We have no way of knowing where every player taking the knee falls on that spectrum, likewise we have no way of knowing where all the fan objections will fall  when people boo

it’s divisive at best, dangerous at worst, it needs fucking off

I agree - but booing taking the knee has now made it relevant again.

Opting out of something and booing it isn’t the same thing though is it

Are they not both expressions against it?

How does a person in the stand express it other than booing? Turn their backs? Whatever they do they are going to be labeled racist it would appear

We all knew that this was coming down the tracks, sports supporters all across the globe stating that wouldnt be happening if they were in grounds/stadiums

We pay our money and watch our sport , keep very very dodgy politics away from our fun

It is no different than posting on here ,lots trying to keep it light , humouros and friendly to get us through these dark days and then others keep dragging the politics in to kill the mood

(guilty as charged)

Nah, my missus took 2 knees last night and I didn't have a problem with it at all, maybe you should get your boyfriend to do the same 😉

Player does a bad tackle when he touches the ball after he’s booed it’s a way of expressing

Ohhh that was who you were telling me about. Mums the word (taps nose)

One player didn’t take the knee, he just stood there with his fist clenched aloft. Isn’t that the black panther stance?

Again you seem to struggle with the difference between not wanting to partake in something and being actively against it

I don’t eat mushrooms but I don’t boo the missus if she sticks some on pizza

It just doesnt serve a single purpose anymore.

Its not going to make anyone less racist. Itll have the opposite effect.

Weve just had a summer of riots ffs. The awareness is there in its abundance.

We are all aware now of the apparent problems in the game and society. It really doesnt need to happen anymore.

Nobody should be taking a knee for anyone. Actions are what needed not empty gestures that do more harm than good.

Exactly, whys the outrage and support not also for other marginalised and persecuted folk? it’s either the blacks or the gay community with the FA.

To be honest I’m sick to the back teeth of all the paraphernalia at football and sport events these days, just want to watch sport and forget about all the outside shite that’s going on in the world, let sport be a place to escape from it all.

Well you should do. The filthy animal.

I love how supposed grown-ups are justifying booing as if life is one big pantomime.

if you dont agree with something then you should boo as loud as you can. Hahaha. Amazing 😂😂😂

Booing allows folk to vent frustration, how else do they make it clear that they are sick to the back teeth of millionaire players virtue signalling about something that’s shoved down your throat every single day.

Again you seek to patronise somebody. Must be great being so much more intelligent?

I struggle with arseholes. But I don’t struggle with the concept of somebody choosing a way to express themselves. Seems you do though. Never mind

The booing is just a verbal protest

If the BLM protests in the summer had stuck to verbal protests such as booing rather than vandalising statues and cenotaphs then perhaps the cause wouldn’t have been tainted as it has for many

We all have a right to a verbal protest, done in a peaceful way. Nobody has the right to vandalise or decide what statues and cenotaphs should be standing. We live in a democracy, that stuff should be decided by elected officials, not an angry mob

It’s ok though it’s allowed they’re black.

To be fair, most of the summer protestors seemed to be white to me, I don’t think skin colour of protestors has any baring on this though

The fact is, many of the protest in the summer went way to far, they were abhorrent in a democratic society like ours

For me, they have tainted the BLM cause, I think plenty will feel the same way. Millions of people will have been sat at home disgusted by what went on. With crowds returning to Sport it’s within everyone’s right to lodge a non violent verbal protest to show displeasure of those actions

Not at all in my opinion. I agree any view tends to be extreme at the moment but I think most rational people see a difference between respectfully declining to join in to going out of your way to boo it. You could argue that booing it will keep it here longer.
