Go on then, Crawshawbooth, talk away.

@crawshawbooth. In another topic, you wrote

“I’ll tell you about Captain Michael Tennant Gordon.”

Some folk on here know that our very early years were spent as next-door neighbours up to us being about 6 or 7 I guess. Our paths crossed in our teenage years when we shared mutual friends at around the time we left secondary school. Since then, apart from recently on here, we haven’t really communicated. I met your brother, embankment at Bury and our paths have crossed at various home and away games.

This topic is for in a pub somewhere though, preferably an away game. What I would like to do is tell me about Capt. M.T. Gordon. I knew he was a seafarer because I remember he was rarely home. Long stretches at sea, I imagine, mean you didn’t see much of him either.

Go on, tell us about your dad.

I enjoyed reading that, fantastic stuff.

real life tales are always more interesting than any fiction can produce.

you are right, an afternoon with a few pints listening to your dad would have been fascinating.

RIP Captain Michael Tennant Gordon

Very interesting and count me in for that afternoon in the pub mate.

i am a shadow of what my father was

Fantastic post that crawshawbooth. What a proper interesting bloke your dad must have been.

Great read.

Thankyou everyone for showing an interest in Dad.

He was a gentleman , old style .

If you are lucky enough that your Dad is still around. Next time you see him. Give him a massive hug , even if its not what you would normally do .

And tell him you love him.

Thank you .

Everything went well.

Carried Dad in while a lone piper played Flower of Scotland.

Minister - Was spot on with his words . ( credit to our kid for putting together 90% of the eulogy).

Military Wife's, -" sang Eternal Father strong to save"

Followed by

Excellent poem about golfers on an eternal golf course.

As we left . The Sky Boat song.

Yep - I brought Dads beloved Highlands to Howe Bridge.

And it even chucked it down, proper Scottish weather.

Just had haggis and mash for tea .

Mum is safe and sound back in THE fabulous care home where she lives.

Thanks again to everyone who expressed an interest.
