Maverick

According to the Mail, Maddison was in the Bolton squad to take on Barrow in a League Two game at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 27 year-old was staying in a hotel 50 yards from the stadium, but he failed to appear at the 1.30pm meeting time.

When he did arrive sources claimed he told Bolton boss Ian Evatt he had ‘slept in.’

Always a concern to me.

Brought up RC. An altar boy well into my teens, went to a Priest-run school, played a lot of football, went to summer camps.

Never came close to being touched up, not even propositioned. Not once.

I must have been a fckg unattractive kid.

And you protest too much.  I've often heard my RC friends stating, "What goes on between me and Father stays between me and Father."

That's your problem. Right there.

They're not your friends. Not really. Not if you aren't of "the one, true, faith".

They're just people who feel sorry for you. A poor heathen who's soul will soon be lost forever.

I laughed a bit.

We just don’t need him.

Exciting player at his best but we don’t want this distraction at this stage of the season.

With Sarcevic out, we might need some contribution from him.

reckon Isgrove, Gnahoua & Elbouzedi are ahead of him in the queue right now

Even though you’re probably right Zico, none of those carries anywhere near the potential threat from a fit and functioning Maddison. He hasn’t fitted in yet that’s true, but I hope he will before the end of the season because he’s one who can come on and change a game in our direction.

he probably won't though, I certainly wouldn't get your hopes up

he's made zero impact so far and been dropped for sleeping in

then no sign of him last week and it looks like he's been allowed to go home, where he's decided to have a tattoo on the side of his head

comments re: Elbouzedi read like a veiled pop at Maddison, I'd be surprised if he played for us again, and be more surprised if he was anywhere near fit and functioning if he does

I think we're better off without him to be honest

Agree. Should be fit by now. Doesnt look it, nor that arsed.

I'd chuck him in against Walsall

That might just piss off all the other strikers who are being rotated and doing pretty well.

Could understand it if he had shown anything.

Did your mam tie a bone around your neck so the dog would play with you? 😂

IE suggested they all had a few days off, on the back of the heavy schedule and no midweek match, so I'd assume every player has been allowed to go home, and why not.  I think it got picked up on just because he had a tatoo, his choice surely (covid rules notwithstanding).

But I agree, I'd be surprised if he plays again except if we're 3 goals up, or maybe 2 goals down.  He might score a worldy, but so might Arthur, and AG doesn't give the ball away every other time he gets it, he retains possession with skill and strength, creates chances and can shoot.  Well ahead of MM even if he were to up his game 50%.

Has there been an inside lostock training video this week? Might give us a clue where Maddison is up to

Can’t disagree with much of that Zico and unless he can prove he can both get fit and blend in, then I doubt we’ll see him again either but I still maintain that if he can show to IE that he wants it, I’d love to see what he can do. Other than that, he has to be deserving of a place or risk upsetting those who have worked hard for it. We have good competition for places now so it’s up to Maddison himself to decide if he wants it enough.

Fair enough if they all did

He's had two omissions now though

Can't see him turning it around or really getting an opportunity to

Back in training though, so guess we wait and see

Tomorrow's team sheet will be annimpirtant indicator. Clearly he won't be in the first XI, but will he be on the bench ?

Can he play in goal if called upon ?

I don’t mind all the discussion and speculation, this kind of character attracts it. But I take it we are all in agreement that whatever IE decides should be accepted and not criticised?  I can see all options; left out, bench and starting all possible. If I was to speculate I’ll go bench.

He'll be on bench, straight replacement for Isgrove who'll be starting instead of Sarcevic.

Barring injuries, I'd be willing to put money on the the team being the same as last week from the time Sarce went off.

Would prefer a keeper on bench.

Beginning of the season I was all for not having a keeper on the bench, the odds on a keeper being sent off or injured are very high, but now getting to this point in the season id prefer to be a bit more cautious. But I trust IE
