Maverick

According to the Mail, Maddison was in the Bolton squad to take on Barrow in a League Two game at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 27 year-old was staying in a hotel 50 yards from the stadium, but he failed to appear at the 1.30pm meeting time.

When he did arrive sources claimed he told Bolton boss Ian Evatt he had ‘slept in.’

aye, but best we dont speculate, please

For the best but must be shit living in a hotel room on Middlebrook during lockdown.

Kioso had similar issues with it as I recall.

Many would have buckled down and got on with it, but we're all different.

He’s been a car crash, was excited when he signed but if your heads not right you can’t perform. Good luck to the lad.

Hope he’s ok.

Best for all concerned. Don't wish the lad any harm though. He does seem to have some issues off the field so the best of luck to him to get that sorted and be able to concentrate on his game.

Awful being away from your family for days on end, tough on him. All the best for the future.

Can’t imagine seeing him near a football pitch for a while

obviously something going on with him. Being up here sat in a room on his Jack hasn’t helped

Didn’t work out. No ill will. Onwards and upwards

Good luck to the lad

Hope it works out for him

Good luck to him. Hope he gets things sorted and fulfills his potential one day, as long as it's not against us.

Hope the lad gets help with his personal problems. Sounds like Sharon has played a big part there .

It's not come off for us or for him but i don't wish him any harm - good luck to him for the future.

I said from the off it simply works or it doesn’t we haven’t lost anything trying

good luck to the lad he’s proven to be a very good player just not on this occasion

All the best to the lad.

Surprised Evatt didn't try telling him to man up then before letting him go. Clearly worked wonders for Crellin 😉

Good to see the reactions on here to the announcement, hope he is ok and this is the right thing for him.

But, how fucking good is Sharon ? Hardly said anything there, but just gets the tone right every time.

I’m pleased that we tried, and clearly supported him.

She is top class.

Oooh, that really is, honestly, a shame. There's obviously a player in there ... & Evatt has been putting huge effort into him. Only in this morning's press.

But the lad has issues & if he's decided it's not working it's for the best all round.

I was hopeful a full pre-season, sort his head out, learn the Evatt way & he'd be ace.

Never put your trust in a man with webs tattooed on his knees. ... & when tatt's encroach onto the face you know their mental health issues going on.

Cue an interference from Bowyer & most of all McAnthony at Peterborough.

Good luck to him.

Yes to both. Sharon says very little publicly about anything, but whenever she does come out with anything, it always seems bang on.

I have a definate crush on this lady.

"Sharon Brittan added: “Having spent some time with Marcus over the past couple of weeks, it became clear that he was in need of some additional support.

“Marcus is a lovely man who I really warmed to and we will ensure that he gets the correct support he needs.

“Although his time with the club was relatively short, he will always remain in the Bolton Family.” "

If one was to replace the now gone Maverick with available options what does everyone reckon?

I reckon buy a Picnic and a Double Decker and take alternate bites of each.

he looks beyond rusty to me, genuinely like you play when you’re hungover. I get match rustiness but this seems something else. Add the illness / sleeping in etc and my guess, total punt that it is without inside knowledge, is that he has mental health challenges...please keep in mind that is a very broad umbrella, I’m not saying he’s cuckoo.

Having looked after staff with a variety of problems over the years I did suspect he was struggling in this area.

Not happy to be right, but it explains a lot for me.

There's a lot of folk struggling with a myriad of mental health issues at the moment and football is no exception; Lee Collins a recent sad and extreme example.

I'm really proud of our club from what we know of their actions so far, and I really hope that MM continues to be supported in the right way now he leaves us.

Talented men are often troubled and I hope he overcomes those demons

I am proud of the way the club have treated him, we don't know what problems the lad is going through and we shouldent speculate but we have seen recently what can happen without support, I wish him nothing but the best

We move on.

Tasteful & deeply considered. Well done.
