Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

I have a vague recollection of it.

I do remember three men burning in a tank going "aaarghh"

😁😁

I think you need to go on the ground over there and do a census, plus double up as a registrar ☺

I'll team up with you and work the office from here, receiving all your emails and texts for every birth, death, etc

Problem sorted, piece of piss this ☺

It can't be that hard can it? 😁 When do I start?

Yes I mentioned that on here the other day, it was alway going to be the case and one of the reasons I say this happens in war, whether folk agree with it or not is upto them. But it does

Which wars?

I'm guessing nothing in our lifetime

Because, right there in the first paragraph

Figures from a classified Israeli military intelligence database indicate five out of six Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza have been civilians, an extreme rate of slaughter rarely matched in recent decades of warfare.

You start immediately,  though I've just resigned, so you're on your own ☺

Again you’re struggling. I’m literally pointing out all Sides post number of deaths. This isn’t my own “worldview” this is a fact. Now Im asking why don’t the media post Hamas deaths. Again I’m not on any side on this it’s a question.

You’re just not getting it, like a lot of stuff on this forum and predictably embarrassing yourself. Again.

Its a myopic view. If you can only get aggressive with you posts when they are called out then again its their naivety or being willfully stupid.

You talk about deaths from Hamas, when a country has used yes acts of murder to try and wipe out another country.

If you want to back Israel to the hilt, be my guest, but you will be on the wrong side of history.

I think it's probably worth bearing in mind that one of the members of the panel that produced the report has previously complained about "the Jewish lobby" controlling social media and another has publicly said that accusations of antisemitism "are thrown around like rice at a wedding"

I wouldn't want to dismiss the possibility the actions of the Israeli government and the IDF in Gaza amount to genocide, but the record of the three people who make up the panel don't exactly scream impartiality

Who is that mate?

Have you actually read any of the posts or are you just speaking to yourself. I‘m asking why don’t they report the number of dead Hamas when reporting dead Palestinians. If you don’t know, which you clearly don’t, you’re better off just ignoring the comment rather than showing yourself Up.

Navi Pillay, Miloon Kothari, and Chris Sidoti

We all know what you are 'saying'  its an endless splurge. We get it, you dont like Palestine, you support the Israeli government.

That is your choice. Other views are available.

Which is the one you've concerns about I mean? I've genuinely no idea who any of those people are.

No, you think you do but you don’t. Try and answer the question if you want.

Simple yes or no by literal friend.

In a nutshell

This doesn’t just happen in wars.

Some yes, but not by recent Western democracies.

I’d even go as far to suggest that Ukrainian civilians in the newly occupied Russian regions aren’t being treated as brutally as Palestinians are at the hands of the IDF.

So you can’t answer the question, that’s fair enough. I doubt many can though it wouldnt have taken them a dozen messages to admit it ,

Urban wars

Easier for me to copy and paste.

Question asked. Civilian to combatant death rate in urban warfare (as I know people will want to know what I asked)

Historical & Recent Examples

  1. World War II (Battle of Manila, 1945)
    • Civilians massively outnumbered combatant deaths, often estimated at 10:1 or more.
  2.
  3. Battle of Grozny (Chechnya, 1990s–2000s)
    • Civilian deaths were extremely high; some estimates put them at 80–90% of total fatalities.
  4.
  5. Iraq – Battle of Mosul (2016–2017)
    • Estimates suggest 9,000–11,000 civilians killed, compared to a few thousand ISIS fighters.
    • Civilian-to-combatant ratio estimated at at least 3:1, possibly much higher.
  6.
  7. Syria (Aleppo, 2012–2016)
    • UN and human rights groups reported civilians making up 70–80% of casualties, a ~3:1 ratio.
  8.
  9. Gaza (2023–2025 war)
    • UN OCHA reports suggest ~70–75% of identified fatalities are civilians.
    • That translates to about 3:1 civilians to combatants, though exact ratios are disputed.
  10.

⚖️ Factors That Drive the Ratio Higher

  • Population density (civilians cannot leave easily).
  • Heavy explosive use (airstrikes, artillery).
  • Human shields / fighters blending with civilians.
  • Limited evacuation routes or blockades.
  • Attacks on infrastructure (hospitals, water, electricity), which also cause indirect civilian deaths.

Summary:

In modern urban warfare, civilians usually make up the majority of casualties. Ratios commonly range from 3:1 to 9:1 (civilians : combatants), and in some battles (e.g. Grozny, Manila, Aleppo) civilians accounted for over 80–90% of the dead.

Can you sum it up for me?

I started to read it but it was going on about stuff that happened 1500 years ago

It's all there mate.

How far back is good enough for you?

How far back does anyone go to get their point across?

Should we go back further ... maybe 2000 years?

All three

They are the panel who produced the report

Some of these maps suggest that Palestinians and Israelis have actually been living side by side for many years.

The figures suggest that Palestinians are breeding at a higher rate.

Jews and Palestinians are simply never going to get on in that part of the world. You can argue otherwise all you like but it’s plain as day that nothing will bring harmony.

I think both sides are acting like fucking babies, and it’ll never change. It’s Celtic and Rangers with bombs and bullets.

Yawn.

Just since Israel was formed will do for me

They wanted a home land and got one

And since then keep taking more land by force and killing / displacing folk in the land they want more of

How far back do you want to go?
