Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

Wasting your time. He's another who has picked a side and will back what they've done and what they're doing regardless.

Can you show me where I've backed what's happened to innocent civilians?

I'm not denying Jewish history in the region - it’s well known that Jews lived there long before 1948.

But the current conflict isn't between the “ancient Israelites” and “ancient Canaanites.”

It's between the modern state of Israel, created in 1948, and Hamas, which didn’t exist until much later.

That's why starting from 1948 makes sense: that's when Israel was founded, borders were drawn, and mass displacement began, as shown by the map.

Ancient history might explain ideologies and narratives, but it doesn’t justify what's happening today.

The reality shown in the maps is that since 1948, Palestinian land has steadily shrunk, with people displaced and killed along the way. And it's what Israel are still doing to this very day.

That's not 1500 years ago - that's in our lifetimes, and it's the direct reason groups like Hamas exist today.

Do you have nothing better to do 😂

Judaism has always played a part in that area of the world. It's their holy land as such. Always has been ... Always will. They have no other.

Put yourself in position of the Jewish.

What's the saying ... If hamas put down their wepons they'd be peace. If Israel did the same they'd be no more Israel.

I'll leave it there.

There's nothing you've posted that justifies what Israel are doing now, or that means you can just dismiss it as just one of those things that happens in war

Like you can't dismiss what Russia are currently doing in Ukraine because it used to be part of the USSR

I'm sure you could find something to justify Russia's action if you were that way inclined

It's not for me though

There are no good guys in the current Israel v Hamas war

That sounds incredibly simplistic and quite stupid, rather than "complicated". It also doesn't expand on anything you claimed in your previous few posts. I don't blame you for leaving it there.

Who says that, Zionists?

Israel formed in 1948

Hamas in 1987

Are you saying there was peace before 1987?

The maps suggest not

Agreed but that wasn't the point being made ... I can see why its happening though.

Nationalistic borders are something that have become fixed over the past 200 years and sometimes take no account of history.

I was recently reading a very good historical argument that the UK has a stronger claim to Crimea than Russia post Treaty of Paris in 1856. 🙃

Historic orders tend to be less rigid.

That’s one of the daftest things I’ve read recently. Where does that saying come from?

Completely ignores the illegal & oppressive actions of Israel in areas where Hamas aren’t in power. And before Hamas even existed.

You’re trying to educate us on ancient Jewish history whilst being completely oblivious to the past few decades 😅

I'm not ... I was asked to enlighten Zico on it so did.

Was ment to be fun remember?

Are you saying it's OK to ignore the past but must concentrate on what's happening now?

Judaism being considerably older.

Whilst not always the case, Christianity has largely accepted, and now supported Israel's right to exist.

Islam, largely hasn't.

Indeed, it has a bit of an issue with anyone not Muslim.

That's when they're not busy tearing lumps out of each other.

Strange lot.

I'm not convinced

You are to be fair mate

The statement by Netanyahu is nonsense. Israeli aggression & land grabs in areas where Hamas hold no power is proof of that.

History is important of course. But none of it excuses Israel’s current actions.
