The thing is - abhorrent as this past couple of years have been - they've got a glimmer of a chance of a lasting peace here. Hamas won't abide by it - and it would be bonkers to expect them to. But Israel have got to be the senior partner here now. Not use it as an excuse to grab what they can.

Sadly, I suspect after a lull, Hamas will continue as they've always done, in the same way as Israel will still look to take land as they always do. It's nice they've stopped having a pop at each other for a few days, but no way will it last.

I think it depends if he can somehow make it in the interests of the Arab states to be involved actively in the peace process. Even then it'll be a stretch. But if it can happen in Cambodia and Vietnam then it can happen in Gaza.

Didn't they 'return" some land so that Gaza could become self governing again?
