Far more widespread now than simply political.

Latest story- a highly successful business man went into his branch and asked for £25k in cash. An account with over a million going into/through it over the year.

He was questioned by someone in the bank as to it's purpose, and replied it was for spending on Christmas presents. Told he couldn't have it- his own money!

Understandably vented his annoyance and then had his account closed!

Now, for most of us, taking out £25k in cash would seem weird, almost anathema. However for a high-roller, maybe it's what they do. Certainly shouldn't be a bank employee's right to question a customer so much, then refuse.

So long as it's within the account's limits/conditions then the customer should be entitled to his or her money.

Have you got a link to said story?

It’s been happening for years and it’s quite ridiculous.

Seems so. Finally coming out.

Could well lead to legislation.

It won't happen, but if enough customers started closing their accounts in any given bank, the run could be very damaging.

They can’t refuse you cash.

They can ask what it’s for but the truth is that no law exists to prevent the withdrawal of any amount.

Usually they just don’t have it to hand and need to go into the vaults which (and I’m basing this on what our FD told me) are on time locks so can only be accessed at certain times of the day.

My main concern is WTF does it have to do with a cashier or the bank?

Nothing.

There’s no obligation to answer.

Im not buying it, at all.

Have any of the banks confirmed they are refusing to give out cash?

You swallowed the Farage bullshit, and it seems you've now swallowed some more. Unless you can provide a legitimate source?

Barclays 2006 - asked for 12k, asked by the cashier what it was for, told her who said I would need to speak to branch manger. Spoke to him for the best part of 45 mins. “Computer says no” he then phoned head office. Took me 48hrs and 3 months pay slips to get my money.

Well, no its not, but i guess its something similar

Fwiw, my dads bank always asked him what withdrawals were for as they were concerned he was getting scammed

It's clearly a massive Lefty Woke conspiracy. Surely every branch of every bank holds the total amount of physical cash that sits in ALL of their customers accounts, just incase every single one of them happens to withdraw it all on the same day?

Fucking Leftist cunts. How did the cashier know you were a raving fascist?

Nope, apparently it’s banks wanting to reduce fraud 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought it was a Leftist Banker plot to deny Right Wingers of their finances?

I had to arrange with the bank that I would need to pick up 4k in cash from the Culcheth branch of Natwest rather than my usual Horwich branch so I could pay for a car for the missus. This was back in 2000 I think.

Before that in 98 I was questioned about a bank draft cheque for my own car even though it was made out to a dealership.

If anything, money laundering rules have got a lot slacker in more recent times, maybe they are finally making them better?

Basically, Nigel has convinced all the Brexit nutjobs that Anti-Fraud procedures and standard Banking policies that have been in place for decades are revenge for them voting Leave.

So you got the cash?

After they’d made absolutely certain it wasn’t some fraudster stealing your money?

You got the cash?

Wait a minute. 30 mins ago you was asking for link and a legitimate source.  Now you’re saying these policies have been in for years. Make your mind up.

2 days later I got my cash.

Its pretty obvious I wasn’t the fraudster

I asked for a link to the story TMGJ described. Still haven't got one.

But you got the cash?

So they haven’t actually stopped people getting their cash?

Not disputing it took 2 days. But if someone pretending to be you had managed to duplicate your details, you’d have been fairly fucked off if they’d just wandered in and took your cash in ten minutes.

So, in the end, everyone can get their money out in cash.

Nothing to see here. Except screeching snowflakes getting in a lather
