Food / Delivery shortages

Covid?

Brexit?

Both?

I notice it’s taken McDonald’s to run out of milkshakes for it to actually cause people to lose their shit.

I read that 14,000 EU lorry drivers left jobs in the UK since brexit, and only 600 have returned.

Covid caused loss of tests to be cancelled.

Why don’t we just import the gas from abroad?

No mention of shortages there.

You’re wasting your time

I tried this yesterday and was virtually carted off to The Tower for traitorisms.

We pay more cos our gas is , like, better than that inferior EU shite. Ours is WELL hotter.

Bring back the coal mines :)

That happens already?

2 plants closing here but majority comes from abroad.

The knock on affect here will be those who source from GB mainly, when retailers switch to those who have Co2 that where the strain will kick in as demand will outstrip production/delivery

I’ve just had a thought. This CO2 which prevents abattoirs killing pigs is fine but what about the stuff pushing beer from keg to glass? Eek!

Switch to cask ale.

Can we not just capture some of the CO2 that's causing global warming?

It’ll undoubtedly not be the right type of CO2

We do.

And there are shortages the world over.

We have reduced our storage capacity over here which isn't helping- centrica recently closed one because it was leaking. One individual saying last night that they shouldn't have been allowed to, maybe correct.

Keep popping on about energy prices being higher here doesn't make your point re brexit any more accurate. They've been that way for some time- I explained one of the reasons, but interestingly you chose to ignore it, and still screech. Perhaps it doesn't suit your agenda.

Many other countries have greater state influence in their sector, and many have a lower renewable percentage. Again this gets ignored, maybe because its actually a positive thing we've been doing for 30 years.

Costs will be higher initially, but everyone will have to go that way eventually.

I read elsewhere that a lot of the CO2 shortage was due to lack of staff. Staff formerly from the continent.

I've already said that the rise in Gas prices isn't entirely down to Brexit. However, I will refer back to a big selling point from the referendum that clearly stated leaving the EU would lower energy bills. All part of the milk and honey.

Covid hasn't helped, of course it hasn't. But all these little things start to add up. Not enough drivers. Not enough EU staff. Problems at the borders. Increased costs to exporters. Increased costs to importers.

Saying Brexit isn't anything to do with all this is nuttier than squirrel shit.

I changed my mind, it's ok for others to let the truth dawn too you know.

Shame you couldn’t work this out earlier instead of telling us all now.

I’m as upset as you are.

But I never thought this could be handled so woefully.

Some did say it would be a very difficult and painful process but they were branded as peddlers of project fear.

Just had a meeting with a large frozen food wholesaler and they confirmed that 4 of their depots had to shut last week due to fuel shortages. Couple this with the shortage of vehicles and drivers their supply chain on distribution is fucked. Says it’s forecast to get worse as well

Whe you say vehicles; is this because they're waiting for new replacement ones or that demand is higher than they can meet with their current fleet?

Captain Hindsight

Right, it's all down to brexit then. Weird how the shortage applies to the whole world, with Europe most badly affected. No reference to that, surprisingly enough.

I've just had a quick look, didn't take long, a fact that stood out as is dramatic in all this.

Russian gas exports are at one fifth of their pre pandemic levels. Thought that it may be to pressure the eu into accepting its "controversial nordik 2 pipeline".

Obviously that's all the fault of brexit too.

The wind hasn't blown much, which has affected power production throughout Europe- Brexit's fault of course.

Knock on effect is dramatic increase in gas price for all, but of course that's Brexit's fault too.

Of course this is all made up, and Europe is unaffected with only the UK affected because of brexit.

Some issues about our resilience, and that maybe a feature of overall policy- something to be looked at there for sure. And although policies have been going towards renewables for years, that's still the fault of brexit.

Of course though, it's because folk can't see and it's brexits fault really.

However, thankfully, some of us realise you don't look for nuts in squirrel shit.

Bbc news said we get 60% from 2 plants in the uk

Shut cos of gas prices

Anyway, i do suspect brexit is playing a part in all this, but i cant be arsed arguing with bozos spokesman on here

What might be interesting would be to see gas prices across the EU maybe 3 years ago and compare em with now

Presumably, theyll all have increased at similar rates?

Depends what supplier you are. A lot of the big boys in beer and soft drinks will be under 20% GB

Just seen Tommy Wrights adding another £2 to the price of his Rivvy cans

There's no Smartprice Bitter or Value Grapefruit Juice on the shelves.

So they've had to buy Stones and Del Monte instead.

i wonder how many gas businesses evergrande own.
