We will be missing 3 out of 4 of our leading defenders tonight, one of the replacements had a nightmare on Saturday.
Dapo s' form has dropped but is still our most potent weapon.

If we are thinking formation changes would 3 centre halves with Isgrove and Gordon as wing backs.

MJ and Thomason as holding players

Sarce and Dapo slightly more advanced and Doyle or Bakayoko upfront. So 5-4-1 basically. Relying on wing backs to get forward.

I really hope however that Brockbank plays and shows the moronic cunts who spent Saturday night abusing him so much he apparently suspended his Twitter account that he is a bigger man than them. A life long fan , in the academy since 7, captain of the group that came through and played when we had fuck all (even though he was injured). I know football is a tough gig but some people take it way to far the fucking pricks.

Brockbank was exposed on Saturday......he has not played a lot of football this year no fucking way am i having a go at him he just needs a little more protection which isgrove would give him.

He shouldn’t have received online abuse granted but because he is one of our own he should still be criticised for his performance Saturday; and I know they were nearly all shit. Never seen him play well and in my opinion he would be a liability playing him again so Baptiste and maybe the other CB should get the nod

I'm not sure Baptiste has the pace or fitness to play as a fullback anymore

If Brockbank starts I'm not arsed, everyone can have an off-day and practically the whole team did on Saturday. Personally hope that Isgrove gets the nod though.

I think more questions need to be focussed on Evatt's selections. He chose Baka in front of him and that clearly didn't work, when he could have chosen Isgrove to help HB out a bit?

So I would hope IE admits some culpability.

Just seen Doyle, Sarcevic and Brockbank strolling through the city centre 😂

I think Brocky defensively is suspect. A defensive winger would help I'm not convinced he's good enough at this level. I hope I'm wrong.

Not many people have pointed out that he's not good going forward either. He can't cross a ball.  I can't remember him overlapping Baka once on saturday. Gethin Jones is always overlapping creating space. We need our fullbacks to be willing to do that.

For me brocky is a failed centre half now playing full back.

Who’s the new geezer doing the interviews

He’s  good

Think it must be the New head of communications after the Paul Holliday left to go to the FA. Can't remember the new guys name  but he's on twitter.

Better interviewer than the Yorkshire lad

No issue with the previous fella but this guy just sounds more professional and polished like he’s done his research and asking questions outside of the box

My prediction for tonight:

Concede first, equalise in second half, dull finish to the game. 1-1.

Have a watch of the Liverpool highlights. And last year's games.

He overlaps well enough.

Given the overall performance on Saturday, and people's thoughts about Baka, maybe he was reluctant to over commit, possibly under instruction, given who his winger was.

He may not be the best, hence why he's second choice, but one game against arguably the best we've played against isn't the fairest way to judge him. Jones may have struggled a bit too.

He needs a run of games to give him a chance. If he doesn't cut it after that, then fair enough.

He did.  Problem was,  Baka played the ball where he'd been instead of where he was going.

Off to Britainnia.

Say hello if you're in there.

1-0

Brockbank

Come On You Whites!!!

Weather will be the great leveller tonight.

2-3

Baptiste, Brockbank, Isgrove

Whatever the formation is, Thomason would lend more defensive capability to it. Be that in front of a full back, or inside as a central midfielder. He also passed the ball well.

He probably won't score goals like Sarc though, and dribble like Dapo.

Afolayan apparently started as a central striker, so could imagine him playing behind Doyle, in a free role to run at defenders with the ball.

Glad you clarified that 😀

Joking aside I agree he could clearly play the number 10 role, or anywhere across the front.  Given that he's a winger I don't think Dapo ever just swings a cross in does he?  He'll pick a pass (created a great potential chance for Doyle in first half but he was just offside) but he's definitely not a winger in the traditional sense, beating a man and putting a cross in.  Tends to beat 2 men and have a shot, and he doesn't need to be out wide to do that.

Would be great and I hope I eat my words but I couldn't think of 3 outfield players less likely to score for us.

We’re struggling they’re flying bite your hand off for a point .

nope i wont come on here and moan Evatt knows best and he gets paid to select the team i do not.

Back him whatever team he sends out.....Just my view on a forum that has  no relevance what so ever

If he goes 4231 tonight and we win i will be delighted and chuffed to be proven wrong

It'd be a shame if we couldn't have different opinions to any manager that wins a game.  We could assume that all managers know better than fans - of course, they are pro's and we aren't - but it would be dull to just accept all managers always make the right decisions.  Southgate has reached the pinnacle of managing England but I still disagree with some of his selections even if we win 5-0 or reach the final of the Euros (Saka, Henderson for eg, nobody has to agree).  Its just opinions and even IE doesn't get everything right if we win, just as he hasn't necessarily made any selection mistakes be if the opposition are better than us.  Just opinions, they are allowed, win lose or draw.

I've no strong feelings on tonight's line up, we're down to the bare bones defensively and needs must, I trust him to pick the best defenders available.  Just keep Baka away from our penalty area please!
