He probably should have squared it but I liked his confidence, and a good left foot strike

Would you square it to Baka?

Gave a couple of passes away but chased back and won them back, from what I saw today Morley is a massive upgrade on Thomason. And regarding Trafford, he's 6 foot 6 inch.,

Very happy. The first 10/15 minutes were worrying but we weathered their early push & got into the game. Ipswich were a better footballing team than Wycombe which probably shows that we  can struggle  against more physiocal/shithouse teams.

No bad performances, Baka is limited but gave it everything, John had his best game for ages, Trafford & Morley had good ,steady debuts, IE got selection & sub timing spot on, honourable mentions to Jones & Fossey but MOTM goes to the excellent Lee.

( I wonder what the odds are for a play off place, I could be tempted 😊 .....we should only get better )

Another vote from me for Lee MOTM, a pleasure to watch him today and also thought he was our best player along with Aimson v Wycombe.  Also agree on Baka, his control at times is a bull in a china shop, but his chasing and harrying and just being there physically added so much to our game.  He gets up a real head of steam when closing down their defence that nobody else in the squad can offer.  And yes John has taken some stick recently, but he looked real quality in the first half, that control from Santos 40 yard pass and cross to Baka was just class.

If this Dempsey does come, where does he play and who drops out?

As much as I rate him suspect it would be Lee

Lee is like Gary speed. Just consistent.

Colchester at home in April, and Burton at home in September.

Thanks, well remembered.  Both games we should have won, easily the better team, Doyle had a goal disallowed in the first half of both and I'm sure both should have stood.   I suppose what we're mostly missing is a 0-0 when we're 2nd best, a backs to the wall bonus point would be good.

Quite true. Nice problem to have.

He wasn't brilliant Rudy, he looked pretty shaky early on but the lad grew into the game & it was a decent debut for a 19yr old. We shouldn't get carried away though as he will have sterner tests.

Their forwards were giving him a bit of grief on corners and he stood up well. His distribution was excellent, the save where the lad had a free header he caught it like a seasoned pro.

He knew when to play it short and when to hit it long.

I didn't remember. I looked it up. I'll probably have forgot today's score by Wednesday.

Didnt hear a peep out of em. Strange as was a decent following.

Incredibly quiet.  A lot of teams in this league are though, it always surprises me.  They've travelled all that way but they don't seem like they can be arsed.

They're bastard frozen.

Get off a warm bus/train after a few hours, then into a concrete heat sink.

He was good and think he was doing a bit more talking to the defense, but he absolutely fucked up on a corner in the second and very lucky that their forward was unaware and it bounced off him

Spot on , and his off the ball movement today was outstanding

What's he done wrong?

Whatever it was he can keep on doing it!

Was in HOF but my bro had a box above nob head corner so sat in there for the match. He was loving the atmosphere without the intensity of being in the ESL at 8 year old.

"what are they singing..." every few minutes.

So glad we won today

Solid performance.

Jones has a huge impact on this team. Good defensively, improves Santos, gets forward well and is also a critical factor of us being able to play out from the back with the ball into MJ and then out to the full back - there’s a lot of confidence in him to keep the ball.

Lee was MoTM, never stopped.

MJ played well but still looks like he’s getting up to his best form - no bad thing though that there’s more to come from him.

Like the look of Morley, clever player with an eye for a pass, as Jules said hits a sweet ball but also seems like he has a defensive side to his game (and only 21!).

Charles will be a good one once up to speed - probably needs 3 or 4 more games before he gets there but the signs are promising.

As others have said, only slight downside today was Baka - didn’t win a single header, doesn’t use his size, lost the ball a lot and generally didn’t offer much. I think there’s more in him and maybe he needs a run in the team, but I thought he was poor today.

Liked the balance in the team, liked that we were effective down both sides, liked that we played out from the back but also went long. One swallow and all that, but definitely promising signs.

Good analysis, agree with it all apart from a factual error, Baka didn't win many headers but I can think of 2 he won in quick succession in the 1st half and one in the 2nd.  He should be better in the air yes, but having a 2nd striker down the middle was the difference between winning and losing for me, never once could their defenders enjoy easy possession.

After a nervous start I’m surprised ipswich didn’t try their luck with some long range efforts at Trafford

One touch when Lee controlled a ball in front of East Stand in first half was brilliant.

Home and opened a new bottle of rum to celebrate and excellent performance and 3 points .

Much much better we looked more balanced and the lads put in a cracking shift

Cheers :drinks:
